Oz: The First & Second Season
Question:

I've tried the 'search' function in the forums, but I've only then discovered that you can't have any 3-letter word included in the search.
So, I don't know if this has been done before. I'd like to know if the box for the First Season of OZ is any good - is it worth it, especially since DVD Compare mentioned that it's non-anamorphic. Furthermore, is the 4:3 aspect ration its original? (BTW, can you have a 4:3 movie that's anamorphic at the same time?)
I know the second season isn't out till early next year, but does anyone know the exact specs for the Second Season box set? Is it any better, in terms of extras and video/audio quality?

Answers:

Anyone?
I'm planning to purchase it from Amazon.ca - I was wondering if it's going to be the exact same as the American DVD ie. without billingual languages.

Answers:

I think the original aspect ratio of Oz is 4:3, I cant remember ever seeing a widescreen epsiode. I expect the second box will be similar, 4:3 with 5.1
Have you seen it before? I would recommend it but it is very strong and not everyones cup of tea. Maybe watch an epsiode on telly to see if you like it first as it is fairly pricey. If you do like it, buy it! One of my fave TV progs.

The first season has actually been reviewed on my site - HERE (http://www.electronicreality.co.uk/reviews/oz.htm)

Answers:

Yes, Oz S1 was in 4:3, that's the only aspect ratio to watch it in.
And no, you don't ever want an anamorphic 4:3 picture.

Oh yeah, I've been following the series since the first episode, and I definitely think it's alot different from the other series I've seen. I think I'll get it from Amazon.ca - it's alot cheaper than elsewhere.

Best programme ever. Mine is on preorder from play.com. Crappy extras though, the first season dvd was way better with a couple of commentaries and loads of deleted scenes.

Get it get it now, you won't regret it.
Well you might if you're a sensitive soul, but for me it beats the other 'big' TV Shows (sopranos, shield etc) hands down. You never know whats coming next, whether it will make you laugh out loud, or physically sick, and I like that in a TV Drama, me.
