Just trying to get an idea of a few films that are not necessarily pure christmas movies i.e. feature santy, crackers and a heartwarming message, but are set around the season to be jolly.
e.g.

French Connection starts at Christmas time (cheating, I know), there's Black Christmas of course and a little known Christopher Plummer, Eliott Gould movie, The Silent Partner, with a great jazz score BTW, was set around Christmas time I seem to recall.

Already mentioned, Trading Places is a great film set around Christmas. Part of The Godfather is set around Christmas, although it's a small part!



Definitely one for the girls Serendipity (I think it ends at Christmas).

Watched it again yesterday! One of the most under-rated films ever IMHO. Looks amazing on the 72" screen through the projector, amazing cinematography, set design and Carter Burwell score..R1 version has no extras unfortunately but recommended for the movie alone..:)
