Hi people!
I have been uhmming and ahhing forever about which version of Brotherhood of the Wolf to get, and I have settled on the Canadian Special Edition.
I now find out that there are *two* Canadian versions of this:
1. A version with French DTS and French Dolby 5.1 with English subtitles, and some extras
2. A version with French DTS and English Dolby 5.1 with French and English subtitles, and more extras than the other version.
The track I am most concerned about having is a French language track.
However I don't have DTS (yet) so does this rule out the second option, as I would be unable to play the French DTS track, or can it be turned into Dolby 5.1 somehow by the player (sorry for the thickie tech question).
And finally in a Trevor McDonald stylee, are the extras missing on the first disc any good? DVDsoon lists them as: "Filmography, Photo Gallery", are there really any differences between the extras on the Canadian Special Editions or is this just a snafu by DVDsoon?
Seriously, have you ever heard of more releases for the same film. This one takes the biscuit. Not that I'm complaining.

Both versions from Canada have French DTS and DD. The 3 disc has the 1 disc version, plus two discs of extras.
And to confuse matters even further, there is a three-disk version with a French cover and booklet (marked v.f. on dvdsoon's site) and a version with a cover in English and English booklet.
Last time I looked, the v.f version was slightly cheaper than the English packaged one; the disks themselevs are exactly the same.

I went for the Canadian R1 Lions Gate Special Edition (number 3 below), with the French Dolby 5.1 mix, I know it has slightly fewer extras than the TVA edition but I hope I can live with that, in order to hear the film in French in 5.1 (I don't have DTS).
Just for insanity's sake, I thought I would list all the different versions available of this film to show how confusing it is. There may be more but this is what I can find:
