Yes it is Only yesterday and its another fantastic ghibli offering and is by Isao Takahata.
The best ghibli film about nostalgia with a wonderful/magical ending ... need i elaborate further?

Hey guys, I will definitely be ordering this after seeing it in the ghibli booklet. My next one on the list is Whisper of the Heart. You might already know that I have Totoro, Kiki and Laputa.
Cirrus, the storyline sounds just up my street. I love films about nostalgia and beautiful vivid country scenery. I pointed out the wonderful country rice fields and forests from totoro. If this is anything to go by, then I think I'm in for a surprise. I'm sure I won't be dissapointed.
BTW, do you know when it's out on R3?
R3 is probably soon after the R2 as you would have guess ... I have no street date.
If you've seen Isao Takahata's grave of the fire flies then you will know he makes his characters as realistic as possible and his little girl (all kids actually) attention to detail is amazing and a delight to watch.
As much as grave for the fire flies is grim, Only yesterday is heart warming and uplifting.
I actually watched grave of the fireflies a couple of weeks ago........Here......... (http://217.33.154.203/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=136847)and thought it was one of the best animated films I have ever seen if not the best for realting to the characters and the way the story unfolds.
Have to agree with you totally that Grave of the Fireflies is a very depressing film and I really would like to watch something like Whisper of the Heart which as you say looks very warm and uplifting. :) Can't wait for the R3 release now.:thumbs:
Not whisper of the heart although thats also a nostalgic feel good movie ... Only Yesterday ... I get confused by the two as well ... also don't forget Ocean Waves another nostalgic ghibli gem.

Ocean waves is another nostalgia movie but its different probably the weakest of the 3 but I still liked it because its different.
