Question:
Thought it was time for another post on this one. Has anybody heard anything about a UK release for this film which I thought was one of the best thrillers of the last 5 years.
R1 is not anamorphic so I'm not buying that and I know a german version is out there so why can't we have one in the UK.
Surely they're not leaving it till T3 comes out so they can plaster "from the director of T3" all over the box ?
The R2 Project recently had this in with Fox releases for next year, had it down for January

A word of warning. The German R2 version has some decent extras and anamorphic widescreen (unlike the R1) but the movie itself is cut. I'm going to go into heavy spoilers here so beware..... in the uncut movie, at the end the villain falls off the truck suspended off the bridge, and lies helpless. The wife then loosens the gear stick on the truck causing it to fall on the villain and squish him. In R1, this is what you see. In R2 (in Germany anyway), the shot of the wife loosening the gear stick is omitted, making the falling truck look like an accident rather than premeditated. This changes the entire emphasis of the film's ending for the worse. To my mind, the point of the scene is that the heroes have to play dirty to defeat the evil trucker. In the cut version, this is all lost, and having the falling truck look like an accident makes the scene less complex and even silly. So i wouldn't preorder the Uk release until we get it confirmed that the film itself is fully UNCUT.
My God, that sounds as bad as what happened to Eraser in R2.
Hopefully though we won't get the German cut. I know it was shown uncut on Film Four last year so fingers crossed it'll be ok.
If it isn't I shall be extremely ****** !

The R1 version is actually slightly cut too. When I saw this in cinema just before the truck hits JT Walsh. It shows a close up of his face, he turns his head and the stone is covered in blood, there's a strange look on his face as if to say "oh ****". THIS SCENE IS NOT ON THE REGION 1 DISC.
