Question:
Does anyone know of a review website where they've already reviewed this film?
Read the review in the NOTW but I don't trust Paul Ross who gave it four stars. He said it was nearly as good as "Dog Soldiers". If it is I can't wait for this one.
well you could always try empire magazines web site. see here (http://www.empireonline.co.uk/reviews/review.asp?id=8588&ss=deathwatch&sb=t&or=bf&c=&r=0&f=0&cp=1) for their review which like Total film gives a two star rating.
Or alternatively try the BBC for their review here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/2002/11/20/deathwatch_2002_review.shtml)
Paul Ross probably thinks the sun shines out of J Lo's arse but reviews of her latest film Enough from both magazines indicate the script may have come out of her arse rather like P Ross's reviews
Never mind Paul Ross. I've been looking forward to this for a while, but it's getting bad reviews.
To quote Alan Jones from Starburst.
"Never feels remotely authentic" and he only gave it 1/5.
Has anyone else seen this yet - I was thinking of going tomorrow, but I'm in two minds after reading some reviews.
Funny how Jonathan Ross didn't think it was very good on Film 2002 the other night. For brothers they sure have diffrent opinions.
...here's another (negative) <a href="http://www.femail.co.uk/pages/standard/article.html?in_article_id=150327">review</a> of the movie...
...and here's a (glowing, in comparison) <a href="http://www.iofilm.co.uk/fm/d/deathwatch_2002.shtml">review</a>...
...which just goes to show: you can't please all the people all of the time...
. . . :| . . .
I should imagine the real-life horror of WW1 trenchs were far more horrifying than some ghost clanking his chains!:|
I watched this last night and was ultimatley dissapointed.
No-where near as good as Dog Soldiers in my honest opinion, it's a different style as it's one of those films that plays on the emotion alot during the film. I found it quite predictable throughout, but that's not to say i enjoyed some parts.
You don't even see many "ghosts", much of the killing is done by the men themselves as they get crazier and crazier so don't expect huge amounts of special effects, tho there are a few times it's used to nice effect. But basically, if a bunch of men hiding out in an extremley muddy and wet trench, going crazy at each other excites you, then by all means go for it.
I watched it this afternoon. Was a great way to kill a couple of hours - very entertaining, worth a watch :)
Saw it on Saturday - could not get into it at all. Thankfully it was not a long film.
