Equilibrium Trailer
Question:

http://us.imdb.com/Title?0238380
I got the trailer this morning for Equilibrium. Film is set in the future, looks like a clean version of Blade Runner, with a touch of Gattaca. Christian Bale plays the enforcer of a Government that doesn't allow people any sort of opinion or freedom.
He goes up against the system when they betray him (oh where have we heard that before) sounds like a remake of Minority Report come to think of it. Very similar to Dark City and The Matrix, might be a little unoriginal but from the trailer it looks very good.
Strange to see Christian Bale jumping around with a sword fighting off bad guys. Looks as if there's a lot of action in it. Angus MacFadyen (Braveheart) and Sean Bean are also in it. It's been released on 6th December in the States, don't know when it's due here.

No replies, yet? Been following this on KFCCinma. Think it's about time people here become aware of this. If you like HK Gun-play and Anime, then you have to check this out...
Kanedaa, could you put up a link on your page? I think more people would find out about this through you :)

Very slow for me, going at just 20k when I could get 160, so 15 mins wait, but I gotta see the trailer, it's coming out NEXT WEEK and yet there is nothing, absolutely NOTHING about it anywhere, and no ads or trailers, very strange, very bad too.
I have been waiting for this movie for a while, I expected a somber, Gattaca like quiet smart sci fi drama but you're saying it has some Blade Runner, HK gun play and anime elements?! All the better then!
...Edit
Ahem... WOW! Guess what's got a shot at a top10 spot in my collection again, for the THIRD time this year after Ecks vs Sever and Femme Fatale? :D
This is a clear mix of Gattaca, Minority Report and Fahrenheit 451, and I think will deliver what Report couldn't. It definetly looks very stylish, nicely filmed, that jump on the door and then standing up with a gun in each hand, with light coming from behind him through the doorway so just a silhoette is visible, beautiful, and long barrels on autamotic handguns, similar to those that Arucard of Hellsing uses, and that poster! Black matrixy trenchcoats with big ass guns, all silverish two-tone and a Blade Runnerish background. I like the music too, I think it's parts of original score since the trailer was probably cut after it was ready. Man, up to this point I've only read about it, no pictures, no videos, no nothing, now a week left and only now I get something, thanks to Morpheus, but it's sad that it's not being advertised properly.
I can't wait! I can't wait! I can't Wait!
Kurt Wimmer, the director, wrote screenplays for Pierce Brosnan's Thomas Crown Affair, Sphere, and early next year's upcoming Al Pacino/Colin Farrell movie The Recruit, but his previous one and only directorial credit is some presumably bad 1995 actioner One Tough *******... I hope he doesn't screw this movie up, I really expect it to be great  :)

Intresting....Does look like an action remake of Fahrenheit 451!
The lack of publicity a week before release dosen't bode well though.

i believe this film has been completed for about 2 years now, not just shot but actually finished ready to be screened. that's usually a very bad sign, in fact has a film that has sat on a shelf for ages ever been good?

It's gotten some very favourable reviews on the web, it's another one of those films that Dimension sadly won't do anything with after they screwed up David Thowy's Below

I might, but not really in this case. I do know that most people hated it but I was being straightforward and not sarcastic. I got the theatrical cut in DTS from Japan and the director's cut on R1 DVD which also includes a 3rd, original short version :dork:

There's now a different trailer on Dave's Trailer page (http://www.kaneda.freeserve.co.uk/trailers.html)
Shows a little bit extra. Looks very good too.

It's showing in one of my favorite theaters tomorrow, but I'll probably avoid the crowd and go on a 3rd day, Sunday.
It's gona fail I think, 3 other higher profile movies open on the same day.
Those looking for comedy, or most, will go see Analyze That.
For crime, action, and all Hispanics will go see Empire.
Everyone else will go see an intelligent/quirky/strange dramedy Adaptation.
Who's gona see Equilibrium?
Me :D
I'll have to check out all those other 3 as well.
Oh, Pad, Bump.

Boy did this film flop big style this weekend!
In with a thud at No20 with $528,000 on 301 screens.
To give you some kind of scale 'Adaptation' the new Spike Jonze movie opened on just 7 screens and made $400,000.

Maybe but look on the bright side, the DVD will no doubt come out sooner because of it.
I'll be honest the trailer looked alright, i couldn't help but think of 'The Matrix' when i saw it. It's not the kind of movie i'd go out of my way to see in a <strike>cinema</strike> theatre ;) (but that's partly because i have to really go out of my way to get to one.
But i reckon given the right supplements this could be an interesting DVD purchase.
