Question:
With the first 2 Potter books turning into films of about 2.5 hours, any idea how long the films of books 3 and 4 are likely to be?
I'm sure the film of book 4 will need to be somewhere in the 5 hour area to do it any justice?
Yeah the books really need to be that long to do them justice, but do you think any studio exec with an ounce of intellegence is going to allow a kids movie that long to be released?
When i went and saw C.O.S you could see the kids were getting bored after about an hour and a half, a better solution would be to split the books in half and release 2 movies per book.
The studio would probably like that as it would make more $$$ or £££!
Except that they'd still probably have to stick to the one a year schedule because of the time taken to make the films and that means Harry, etc, would be far too old by the time the last film rolled around.
Also, at least in the 1st 3 books, there is no end until the last 5-10 mins.
I've love a 5 hour HP GoF. Do a 2-2.5 hour cinema release and a 5 hour dvd release on 2/3 disc, anything else and the story will be hacked up beyond recognition.
Well they've already blown the film a year routine as the third film is sheduled for June 2004.

The studio got into the game early and cheaply. Just before the first book -- "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" -- became an international sensation, Warner Bros. paid Rowling a meager $50,000 for the right to keep rivals at bay. The following year, the studio paid an additional $500,000, this time to exercise its option to make a movie.
Holy crap! How cheap did they get the rights for??:shocker:
The best business deal ever?
