Hayden Christensen out of Episode III?
Question:

I don't believe a word of it but according to AICN (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=13880) Radio 1 broadcast a news story saying the actor has been fired from the role of Anakin Skywalker. Possible replacements: Justin Timberlake and Robbie Williams (WTF?!?). Does anyone know if this was really said on Radio 1, and if so, who the hell are their sources?!

tbh i don't think Justin Timberlake would be a bad choice.
but Robbie Williams, dont be stupid :P no one likes him, especially most boys who are the key audience

Answers:

I didn't like him anyway he was too wooden

Answers:

Justin Timberlake or Robbie Williams ... are they trying to make it worse then TPM?? :D
Lucas would probably opt for a CGI Anakin, save getting a replacement! ;)

We know James Earl Jones will be in Ep3, which probably means Darth Vader (suit) if thats the case then it really don't matter who plays the Character, which may mean David Prowse is in the frame, after all they could of got anyone to play R2-D2, and CP30, but didn't.

Answers:

David Prowse can be replaced by any tall bloke

..or mini-me on stilts.

Still recon Prowse will be back though, even if it's for the last 5mins or something (unless he's had a falling out with Lucas)
Kenny Baker could of be replaced (Admittedly not with any old Actor) but they needed Anthony Daniels for the Voice (C-3PO) but we don't see or hear Baker.

He's spent a lot of time moaning to all and sundry (since Star Wars opened decades ago) about his voice not being used for Darth vader etc. - so maybe this might not make him flavour of the month in Lucas's mind.

But if it's a choice of David's voice or James Earl's voice IMO James wins it for me.

It's probably untrue. And a pity if it isn't. As I mentioned in another thread, check out Christensen's screentest on the disc - he was brilliant.
But, that said, Timberlake would be the perfect choice if he can act (even a teeny bit). He looks enough like Christensen for the 'saga' to get away with it. And it's less than likely that he'd be acted off-screen by anyone.

Answers:

Doubt Dave Prowse will be in it, pretty sure he's struggling big time with arthritis, or something similar. As for him doing the voice, it always makes me laugh when he moans about that. Coming from Bristol myself, if some of the boys are round and we've had a few beers, on will go Star Wars, and Darth Vaders lines will be shouted how we imagine Dave Prowse would have done them......'ere Luke me uld baber, I's yur uld man, wat's fink bout dat.....well, you have to be there I guess:nuts:

Hayden is IN for Episode III

Wild rumor day, I guess. Fans have been reading over at AICN that Hayden is out for Episode III, due in part to his lack of chemistry with Padme and an overall performance. TFN went to the source on the subject, calling the staff of Lucasfilm for the real scoop.
Lucasfilm as always refuses to comment on rumors, but this is one time they were quick to squash the obviously errant rumors. Lucasfilm was pleased with his performance and "he definitely is in for Episode III."
Don't believe the hype folks - Episode III is in good hands, and Hayden is definitely on board. Move along, move along.

I guess AICN were having a laugh at LFL expense
isn't the Internet fun

He belive's he was ''Vader'' but in reality IIRC he only really did the walking scenes,James.E.Jones did the voice , somebody else did the fighting scenes and they got another actor to be the older Anakin in RETURN OF THE JEDI.
He is getting on as well I belive.

And he's crap in the film, so what does it matter if he was ok in the screentest?
Even Keanu Reeves might be good in rehearsal. :noid:

And someone else did the "breathing" so that 5 Vaders.
Even if they HC is out of Ep3, It wouldnt be cos he was crap in the one, would it?
I mean its already out on DVD, so if the producer/director thought that, he would have been gotten rid of a long time ago. But as lots of you say, Lucas is more interested in the vison than the people playing his characters.

Answers:

I think HC was let down by some ropey dialogue, rather than him being a bad actor. Lucas obviously needs some help in this department for me.
I thought his perfromance was ok.

I don't think he was that bad in the film. He was mis-directed (and I even said that at the time) by someone who was more interested in the SFX. At the screentest the opposite was the case. He also looked like a 'Skywalker' on the test, and much less so after the Lucasfilm hairdressers had their way with him.

Cheers for that
I also don't think he was that bad.Lucus is good with SFX but I think it's well known he isnt the best actor director.I recently read an interview with Gary Kurtz producer of Star Wars and Empire Strikes back he mentioned this
Both the actors on American Graffiti and Star Wars complained that he didn't say enough to give them any feedback. That wasn't completely true, but it happened a lot where he would just say, "Let's try it again a little bit faster." That was about the only instruction he'd give anybody. A lot of actors don't mind – they don't care, they just get on with it. But some actors really need a lot of pampering and a lot of feedback, and if they don't get it, they get paranoid that they might not be doing a good job.
Also on the A.O.T.C Lucus comments that he is a visual filmaker driven by the visuals and not the dialouge.

Didn't I read somewhere that Lucas was thinking (or threatening) to do R2-D2 completely in CGI for Ep. III ?
  Please let it not be true.

Answers:

The only reason Prowse was employed was they needed a person of adequate build and height, so he could do the "interrogation" scene at the beginning of A New Hope, where he holds up that chap by his throat.

Answers:

And Prowse was up for either Chewbacca or Vader...it was just serendipity that he got Vader.

Well, R2 was CGI in a lot of scenes in AotC, many of them unnoticable, like the opening sequence with the explosion/assasination. I think GL says in the commentary that after introducing R2 at the start of the scene they forgot him at the end of it, so they GGI'd him into the last shot. Anyway, my point is, he's already partly a CGI character, so does it really make a difference if he's completely GGI in EpIII?

Answers:

Perhaps Lucas should make a cgi version of himself to direct episode 3.
