Question:
Anyone know if you can just burn a divx movie to cd and lob it in the dvd as normal or doesnt it work with this format?
Cheers :smokin:
Hi,
1. Wrong forum!
2. This would be Piracy!
3. No you can't!
4. Welcome to the forums, if you don't post any more posts about piracy or in the wrong thread in the General forum then you'll enjoy it here, otherwise the mods will be out to get you ;)

Agreed, pay for the films like the rest of us. Thats what credit cards are for ;)
yes, you can burn any divx film to a cd but you need to rename the file with 'm0nk3y5r0x0rz!!' preceding the filename, so if you had a file 'lordoftherings.avi' you need to rename it to 'm0nk3y5r0x0rz!!lordoftherings.avi' which is a universal, industry-recognised code so that the dvd player can adjust from playing a normal mpeg layer-2 stream to a more compressed layer-4 (divx) format. apparently, the code was contrived by a sony firmware programmer who liked monkeys, though nobody knows if it true. it usually works better if you burn it to a cdrw rather than a conventional cdr :)

divx doesn't have to equal piracy.
I now encode to divx from my video camera (instead of vcd) as the picture quality is much better.
