Question:
Just spotted that it is likely that there is no DTS on the R4 version of Band of Bros, despite some R4 retaliers still isting DTS in the details.
If R4 does not have DTS then R1 does, but from what I can gather there seems to be an opinion that the picture quality with the R1 version is not so good. Is this correct?
Can some please clarify what I would be losing in the standard of the picture? And would the general opinion be that having DTS would outweigh the disadvantages of a poorer picture?
I assume ure talking about the less lines in NTSC issue. TBH on both R1 BoB and R1 T2: Ultimate Edition the pictures are awesome and the lines are not noticable on my Sony NS905  Don't get too hung up about NTSC picture quality cos u'll never be satisfied & most times u will see that the difference between PAL & NTSC is negligable (especially so on a 100Hz TV, which I have :D )
Cheers Listy. You have put my mind at rest. My R1 DTS version is on its way.
Has anyone who has bought R1 done an objective test on both DTS and DD? There are a number of reviews which claim that they are almost equal.
I've just read somebody else suggesting this. Be interesting to know for sure (especially as my R1 version won't be delivered until January).
Why don't they just put DTS on all regions?
Space constraints most likely...
I dunno why the PAL countries always seem to miss out on the DTS tracks cos the US discs even sometimes manage to cram the DTS track, 4:3 & 16:9 versions of the film AND extra's on their discs
It's usually the plethora of language tracks and subtitles, R1s are usually just English/Spanish or English/French, but most R2s include most European languages at least in subtitle form.
BTW, DTS-is-just-louder argument aside, I think the DTS track on BoB is superior.

So many films, so little time...
