"Short Time" - how's the Carlton DVD?
Question:

http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B00004D34I.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
I say, I notice that this guilty pleasure (Dabney Coleman in a death-at-all-costs plot...) is avaialble in Carlton's "Silver Collection" (and £5.99 at Play). Can anyone offer an opinion on the DVD before I take the plunge? Thanks ever-so, old beans. :)

Answers:

Can't give an opinion on the DVD as I have it on VHS from many years ago, but it's a great little film. I'd say for that price, go for it.

Answers:

The quality is exactly what you expect for that price.
Bottom line.
It looks better than my off air VHS copy. Get it!

Answers:

From memory - this film has one of the best car chases ever.

I say, thanks for the replies.
I also have a VHS copy (from Channel 4, where it has been aired at least twice), and was hoping that even a cheapo DVD would beat it for quality.
Off-hand, I belive that the television screenings have been 4:3 (as the DVD is said to be, according to Play). The IMDB offers no technical specs, but refers to the LD's 4:3 formatting as "pan and scan" (but this could be erroneous information...). I am given food for thought by the fact that the transfers on Carlton's DVDs are a thoroughly mixed bag, some atrocious ("The Ipcress File"), some surprisingly good ("A Canterbury Tale"), some really rather good ("The Fabulous Baker Boys")
The film does indeed boast an exceptional car chase, among a range of highly amusing OTT set-pieces and nicely judged comic acting from a number of cast members.
I think that I shall take a chance on this one, old beans.
