Great to see Sympathy For Mr.Vengeance winning top honours and Bae Doo-na winning top actress award!
The Pusan film festival doesn't begin until this weekend so that thread title's a little misleading.
Sol Kyung-gu was pretty amazing in 'Peppermint Candy' - he won some awards for that one too.
Plan to see 'Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance' late this week
oh ok so whats the difference between the critics award and the festival winners?
Those winning films are 2-12 months old - they'd have mostly been premiered at last year's festival ('Sympathy' certainly was). I assume the Pusan Critics Awards are similar to the end-of-year New York and L.A. critics events, dealing with every domestic film released in the past year.
The Pusan Festival awards will be presented to films showing in competition over the next 10 days - I presume there are several categories; International, Korean, Debuting Director and so on. And these won't be chosen by critics either - I'm guessing the jury will be local celebrities with a token foreigner or two.
I'd offer to post the 'real' winners when they're finally announced but I reckon you'll beat me to it...
ahhh IC ... thanks for clearing that up ... I got the infomation from koreanfilm.org ...
