Question:
From DVDFile:
Just announced from Fox Home Entertainment are NYPD Blue: The Complete First Season on March 4th. This six-disc set features all 22 first season episodes presented in 4:3 full screen and Dolby 2.0 surround, with extras including audio commentaries on select episodes (participants TBA) and two making-of featurettes. Retail is $59.95.
Wonder if it still holds up?
It's got to be good - but Jimmy Smits was a more than adequate replacement for David Caruso, so maybe later series will be better. To be honest, I can't remember much of what happened in the first series. Seems ages ago now...
All I know is it has an annoyingly superficialy jerky camera work. I'll still get it probably, I like over 50 TV series right now, 30 of them already on dvd.
IMO this was the best season made of NYPD Blue. Smits was a good replacement but Caruso was superb in his role. I'll definitely be getting this set.
According to the fox site NYPD Blue S1 R2 is out 19 May 2003
Previous to CSI Miami I may have bought this but watching that show has made me realise how much Caruso irritates me. Sadly the ever excellent Denis Franz isn’t enough on his own to get me to pony up the cash for this one - I’ll pass.
