Question:
I heard a rumour that The Shield will begetting a DVD release next year and apparently Digitalbits.com did a piece on it, but can't for the life of me find it.
Has there been any more info released? As eventhough we have Buffy this is one boxset I'd love to get my hands on as it's a drama, and there really aren't that many drama progs that can keep me watching a TV as long as this does.
Any info appreciated, cheers :)
I hope so I haven't been able to follow it, but from what i have seen this looks like a fantastic seris
See here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006RCNW/qid=1036972052/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/103-3779634-4859053).
It's released on 7 January 2003 in R1.
Play have it for £32.99 pre-order.
Apparently extras include audio commentary for each episode.
Never seen this but I think I might buy it anyway.
Just found some more details here (http://tv.zap2it.com/news/tvnewsdaily.html?28033), and it looks like the creator has a fantastic DVD set lined up -
The first season of FX's Emmy-nominated cop drama "The Shield" will be available on DVD Jan. 7, the same day the show's second season debuts.
Despite the relatively quick turnaround time for production of the DVD, series creator Shawn Ryan says he's striving to include as many goodies as possible for fans of the show.
"Those of us who work on the show and those at Fox Home Entertainment have really worked hard to make this DVD stand out from the other DVD TV series that I've seen come out," Ryan tells The Hollywood Reporter.
Ryan says each of "The Shield's" 13 episodes will feature a commentary track, and each will be done by someone involved with a different aspect of the show. Writers may talk about one episode, cast members another, and technical staff another.
The four-disc collection will also include audition tapes for each cast member and a host of scenes that didn't make the final cut.
"The Shield" earned three Emmy nominations, the most ever for a drama series on basic cable. Star Michael Chiklis is up for best actor in a drama series, Ryan for writing and Clark Johnson for directing.
Yeah I posted a thread about this a few months ago once I heard about it, really excited. Fox rules. If it goes like this, we can expect Firefly, Fastlane, and John Doe on DVD. Or is John Doe from some other channel, nevermind.
Thanks for the extra info Karellen
Was this shot in 16:9 or 4:3? I know it's in 4:3 on C5 buts thats hardly definitive is it. What ratio is the DVD going to be in and yis this the correct ratio?
I'm glad they're making a concerted effort to add comentaries - I hate it when they only record 3 or 4 out of a season of 22+.
Cheers for the info. Will be going on preorder
