Question:
The Norwegian rental release of the Man Who Wasn't There is a two-disk release, one has the film in black and white the other in colour!
I haven't had a chance to watch it yet but I find it somewhat disturbing that the studio decided to ignore the director and photographers wishes and release a colour version of a film that was meant to be shown in black and white. Especially a film that looks as beautiful as the Man Who Wasn't There.
I believe there has also been an R3 release with colour and b/w
Cool ! I never knew that! Is that mean they actually shot it in Colour and then Desaturated it ?
raymondlin - yeah
The R3 version no longer sells the two versions together. You have to choose between Colour or B&W now.
Can sites you can recommend ?
French R2 features a three DVD set. The film in French is called "The Barber"
Color version of the movie is looking like an old Polaroid.

Please note that this has FORCED french subs when the english language tracks (as there is DTS aswell) are selected.
The colour print was produced for some markets as they insisted on it being available in colour. The interview with the cinematographer Roger Deakins explains this - and it's an excellent interview, well worth watching if you're interested in film-making or photography.
The Korean R3 (though possibly R0) comes in a fancy clear package containing 2 discs - colour on one, b/w on the other.
At least one of the versions features DTS sound.
The extras are the same as the UK R2 and the R1.
can someone clarify this for me,
as i read it
the korean version now is 2 seperate ones - does the black and white one come with either DTS or the extras from the french verson.
the french version has both colour and b+w and the extras and the dts but has forced french subs, correct?
The packaging isn't very clear on the Korean set as regards which version features DTS (it may even be a cock-up similar to the 'Heat' 2-discer where the DTS is on the wrongly-framed version).
The extras are the same as those on the R1 and UK R2 - and do not include the film noir documentary added to the French release. There are removable Korean and English subtitles.
Sorry I meant that the universe HK R3 comes separately either in B&W or Colour ... you have to choose.
I don't know about the Korean version ...

Then buy the color version and adjust the color on the TV to none :|
