Which region are you referring to?

Answers:

What hardware do you have?
I can't check it until tomorrow.

Answers:

It plays fine though my TV. I use my amp tomorrow.
To use spoilers:

Answers:

OK
Region 2 version
I have tried it on
Sony 735 throught TV speakers.
The I tried it through
Sony NS400 with Yamaha 396 amp
Was the same on both
Anyone get this then. Could this be a Dodgy version I have or not.
P.S
Make sure you turn the volume up nice and loud

Answers:

I also have the region 2. I have got a Sony NS900 player and a Sony 930 amp.
There was no distortion. However, I normally listen to DD 5.1 audion with the volume at third the way round. But with BOB I had to turn it to half way to get a decent volume.
There didn't seem any problems (also good to hear it in DD 5.1 rather than off the TV).
I haven't had the chance to watch it properly though from the beginning yet.

Answers:

its not really disstortion. Hard to explain
It the type of sound that goes through you. When he says
ITSELF mostly on the "self" part
Havent noticed it at all on disc 1 as yet
PLay it a few times and see what you think.

Answers:

I try again later (watching the last disc of the star trek boxset at the moment) but I already played a few times and it sounded fine to me.
Just had to turn the volume up more than usual.

Answers:

Yeah I had to turn the volume up a lot more. Maybe thats something to do with it. It sounds Fine when hes shouting just when be says ITSELF.
Cheers for trying
Let me know m8

Anyone anymore comments on this
Thanks

Answers:

I haven't managed to use my amp due to time of day but I did try through the TV again and it still seems alright to me.
I will try it on the amp tomorrow.
Have you any other examples of this problem or is it just this one?

Answers:

This was the first bit that I watched. As its my fav bit.
I will have a look at other bits and post back here...
Anybody else tried this :)
Thanks
Rob

Answers:

I still sounds alright to me over the amp.
Also, I have seen it on TV and it does sound the same (I think). There is also something what looks like slow motion when the guy saids that sentence.
You can always watch the episode on TV in the BBC repeats to see if it is the same.

Answers:

Yeah when it sort of slow down a bit. Very strange. Its not a massive problem. But it does it on Both mine and my dads.
I have to put the TV volume about Half.
Weird. I might just have sensitive ears. Would be interested to hear from other people who have bought this.
Thanks for your help nwgarret. Strange how yours sounds OK though
What DVD player do you have??

Answers:

I have a Sony DVP NS900 player
Also, there was slow motion in Saving Private Ryan from what I remember. The same people worked on both and they tried to make both BOB and SPR look the same.
I haven't got time at the moment to watch it properly yet which is a pain as am looking at watching it uncut.

Answers:

Watching what uncut????
Yeah the slow down is fine. Thats normal... Just the sound thats annoying me

The BBC cut out bits to fit in their schedules.
The first episode alone had 10 minutes missing. The run time should be 70 minutes but the BBC version was only about a hour.

Answers:

I thought the first one was 70 and the second one was 50
Making 2 hours in total

Answers:

I thought the first one was 70 and the second one was 50
That is the runtime of the DVD versions. The BBC version had a total of 1 hour 50 min for the first two episodes.
I just checked my copy of the TV and the first episode is only 58 minutes and not 70 minutes like the DVD.
On the case it saids contains unseen material.

Answers:

Nice one

I thought I have a go to find that part in breaking point on my VHS copy and spent ages trying to find it and then I realised that I went from episode 6 to episode 8.
I did wonder how I managed to get all the episodes on one tape even in long play. :)
The weird thing is I didn't notice until now. I am sure I watched it but must have forgotten to record it.

Yep, same on mine. I heard it clearly as I watched it on my dvd drive on my PC and was listening through headphones.
I reckon it's a fault on the original recording. And I don't think overdubbing would have worked very well to correct it.

Answers:

Phew
Not going mad :)
Thanks m8y. Wonder if the region 1 is like this

Answers:

That is the region 1 I'm talking about. :)
Hence the reason I imagine the fault is on the original recording.

Answers:

ah right thanks m8

Answers:

It still sounds ok to me.

Answers:

Hmmmm, I'm not getting the distortion now.......
I went back to record this sound file (http://www.apdb24.dsl.pipex.com/bob_attack_by_itself.wma) to show people what we meant, and now it sounds OK.
Have a listen Whitty.
The only way I can describe the 'distortion' that was their 1st time round, is like when you listen to a really low quality mp3 and it sounds really fake and 'tinny'.

Answers:

No problem here with my R2, Denon amp & Sony725 player!

That sound file sounds like what it does on my setup.

Answers:

just testing...sorry

Answers:

Will have to have a listen when I get back home
So it doesnt do it anymore on your DVD.

Answers:

Nope.
And the 1st time I heard the distortion I actually replayed the scene and it happened each time.
I haven't changed any settings so I don't know why it's working ok now.

Answers:

Ok
The sound file sounds a bit rough but the problem im getting is not noticable
Only when he says ITSELF can you hear it on the DVD
