Question:
Here's the deal:
I've got enough Ipoints to get a DVD, and I've narrowed the choices down to these two titles:
Panic Room
The Others
Now, I've seen them both, and enjoyed them both too. Here's the problem, which is going to have the most re-watch value. They are both great - Panic Room has zero extras, a nice DTS track though :)
The Others on the other hand has a second disc, but the extras don't sound that great for it either, sounds like it's been put on two discs, purely to say '2 disc edition'
My only concern about The Others is :
Once you see the twist, does that limit the re-watch value? I kind of think it might
I was edging toward The Others, but now I'm swaying back to Panic Room - both discs aren't costing me anything, so I shouldn't grumble.
decisions decisions......
So - make me a choice and it'll get ordered today!
Panic Room ... I thought the Others was terrible second time around, like The Game, once you know the twist it looses its charm!
I'd probably agree with you their Goblin, I think it might suffer the same way 'The Sixth Sense' does, you can watch it a few times, but after that, that's it :(
Panic Room it could well be - supposed to be a good picture and DTS track too :)
Yeah I think I'd go for Panic Room too. I think you will probably watch Panic Room more, although The Others is good too.
The Others is probably one I'd rent to watch on a Saturday night say, but probably not to own - you two have swayed me - Panic room it is!
Another vote for Panic Room
Watched 'Panic Room' last night. Very good picture quality. I dont know how there can be a superbit version, this takes some beating. Good sound too. The camera work alone from Fincher will make you watch at least those bits again and again.
For me, the opening credits are great. I might just go and watch them again now............
Haven't seen Panic Room, but, as there's meant to be a special edition coming along (isn't there?), I'd wait for that.
Panic Room
Buy the Panic Room & The Others from Sainsburys for £25 and save the Ipoints for summat else..
Despite being a huuuge Fincher fan i'm going to say 'The Others'
I haven't seen either film but if i was in your position i'd get the 2 disc 'The Others' and wait for the Panic Room SE, which is bound to come along next year. I don't know how i've resisted getting this Superbit but i know i'm trying real hard :D
Plus i'd be inclined to get my moneys worth from ipoints and you can get Panic Room dirt cheap from either the classifieds or CD-Wow etc, whereas 'The Others' will likely cost you more (unless you go R3).
Just my 2penth :D
I'd say The Others - but that's only because I was disappointed by Panic Room (& wasn't by The Others)

i'd have to totally agree, don't see the fuss about panic room, didn't think it was very good at all
Panic Room, although to be honest you might want to consider waiting for the special edition next year, as the current release is a bare-bones disc.

I have the R1 Superbit of Panic Room and it is extremely average-looking. Also, the bit-rate is only 6.94 Mbps, meaning that it should in fact be called "Regularbit". ;)

Go for Panic Room.
Well, in the end I went for Panic Room - can't understand the complete lack of extras though - I'm sure I got a 'behind-the-scenes' look at it on a DVD mag I bought last month - the one that had the first episode of Phoenix nights on it

No, I'm pretty sure I was right first time - Panic Room was the stylish yet ultimately empty & predictable 'thriller' from the overrated David Fincher wasn't it. In my humble opinion, of course ;)

I quite like The Others. I saw the movie in the cinema (there were ***** from a school on a bloody outing though!) and I enjoyed it. Ordered the Hong Kong R3 - still to watch that disc yet.
