Mars Attacks
Question:

ive decided this is a pretty good film now.
loved it in the cinema, hated it 2nd viewing, loved 3rd viewing.
so i want the DVD ;)
what is the currect DVD like ? isnt it one of the first DVDs ?
does old mean crap ?

Answers:

Strangely enough, I remember this having a Martian audio track when it was first release, but it's not present on the current one.
Hmm, just checked http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk -- the Martian track is present on the Dutch R2, along with a slightly different set of subs to the UK R2; looks like they decided to switch UK versions somewhere along the line (looks identical to the current R4 release as well).

is the transfer any good ?

Choice of a couple of reviews but they both say the transfer is very good thought how it compares to modern transfers is possibly a little unsure

Answers:

The transfer isn't bad and anamorphic, but there is LOTS of aliasing. The audio sync is a bit flaky too (but it was on the VHS version as well). The Martian audio track is just a joke on the setup menu, it isn't like the Thermian track on Galaxy Quest R1 (hellooo waste of disc space)

Answers:

does the non martian DVD still have a isolated score ?

Answers:

Is there not a rumour of an R1 special edition next year?

Answers:

Considering its Tim Burton, and popular film, big stars, bound to have a S.E sometime, but who knows when that will be, who want it now.

ACK ACK AAACK. ACK ACKACK ACKKK.

Its a very nice transfer..looks superb projected (with LCD projector anyway..60" 2.35:1 image). Actually, its one of those films that comes alive on the big screen, and is probably under-rated after multiple TV showings.. 8/10.
