LD Commentaries not out on DVD
Question:

Recently someone here suggested to record Commentaries exclusively available on Laserdisc and put them online. Sounds like a cracking idea, so I thought I'd try and get the whole thing rolling somehow. I've gone through my small collection of discs and came up with the following few commentaries I'd be happy to rip...but first I'd like to check if demand is actually out there and whether or not these commentaries are actually exclusive or not...to be honest, I'm too lazy to check, and I'm sure that someone can confirm without having to check. Then of course a place would have to be found to let people access this...Hotline maybe?
Anyways, here's the list:
Crash - commentary by David Cronenberg
This Is Spinal Tap - 2 commentaries, 1: C.Guest, H.Shearer, M.McKean;
2: R.Reiner, K.Murphy (prod.), R.Leighton & Kent Beyda (editors)
Escape From New York - John Carpenter & Kurt Russell
Sweet Sweetback's Baaaadass Song - Melvin Van Peebles
not sure about these:
Clerks
From Dusk Till Dawn
Usual Suspects
Evil Dead 2
probably these have the same commentaries on them, but you never know.
all input would be appreciated, maybe we can get something going here...

Isn't that on the Criterion DVD?

Answers:

As much as I would love this to happen. Its illegal, soundtracks are copyrighted.
And this topic will get closed if the mods see it.
I suspect the only company who could do this would be Criterion Themselves, allowing you to download the mp3's but Im sure that not even on the to do list.
I actually collect all the rare ones for posterity so I understand the desire to collect the knowlege, its just you know....illegal to rip/publish them.
Ref the Spinal Tap Commentary- it is on the DVD but that now is oop.
