Help with Jean Luc Goddard quote
Question:

Would like to use his words on an essay, but can't remember the quote and can't find a reference:
basically
"a good story should have a start, middle and an end but not in that order"
is this correct/accurate?
Thank you for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a question and answer session. A journalist - I think - asked -
"But surely, Mr. Godard, you agree that every story should have a beginning, middle and end?"
"Certainly" he replied "but not necessarily in that order"
(not verbatim, but close enough)

My favorite quote of his is: "All you need to make a movie is a girl and a gun." So true :D

that's a prety well known quote so you shouldn't be penalised if you say something like "to paraphrase Jean-Luc Godard" or " Jean-Luc Godard is renowned to have commented"
that's the easy way out. the other way of course is to actually read a book about him!

Did he say it in an episode of The Next Generation or one of the movies?

Jean Luc Godard is said to have commented, “I like a film to have a beginning, a middle, and an end, but not necessarily in that order.”

"I like a film to have a beginning, a middle, and an end, not necessarily in that order," Jean-Luc Godard once quipped.
