Question:
Did anyone see this on C4 at the weekend? I'm a big fan of thrillers probably more than any other film genre and I thought it was good fun, a lot of great movies in there.
However, a couple of contentious entries. There were plenty of war movies, science fiction, horrors, westerns, and they all had a right to be there IMO. However, what on earth were Rocky and Raging Bull doing in in the list? How are they thrillers -- because of the fights?!
Well, maybe Rocky could be described as "thrilling", but not Raging Bull surely.
I watched it was good. What i liked about the film clips, they where in their true original Ratios and if you intend to buy any dvd film of the 100. (If Available) But on some occasions the dvds can be full screen even thought it was filmed in widescreen as the film companies can't be arsed!
It was very entertaining, but not spoiler friendly. It warned of quite a few old classics to watch out for.
It was a strange sort of 100 films really (some inclusions were hardly thrilling) and how did GOLDFINGER and THE THIRD MAN make it into the list? These are British, not American, films so surely not eligible for inclusion in the AFI poll.
what was number 1?

Funded by American studios.

Where the hell were Se7en, Fight Club and The Usual Suspects?
...and that's just the start of it.
I wasn't too impressed with the list, that said, it was presented well (other than the massive spoilers). :)

For me the best thing about it was getting reminded of film I either HAD to see again or film I really should get round to watching.
Jaws 02
matrix 66
T2 77
Jaws imo is crap, surely matrix should be in the top 10
totally disagree with that list

I'll second that
I think the nationality of a film should be decided by the director, location of the film and actors.
For example Straw Dogs is British, not American...
Anyone know when the programme was made?
Just a bit suprised there was no LOTR.

My favourite quote on the forums this week:clap:
I loved the bizarre morality too. Even mild swear words were bleeped in the clips but they didn't have a problem showing the alien bursting out of Kane's chest!!
Only in America...
Blimey I've seen 85 of those and I've got the DVDs of another 3 that I haven't got round to watching yet
The Wizard of Oz a thriller?
My beloved Blue Velvet came in at #96 :( :D
Jaws is a great film.... deserves to be there
Of all of these Top 100 lists, that one is surely the daftest and most pointless. Stinks of MTV, not the AFI.
