X-MEN [R1] Re-Release: Some new info
Question:

Some interesting new details, as posted at DVD File.com, have appeared (bold letters) ...
"Finally, Fox has also announced the final specs for the new X-Men 2-disc collector's edition arriving on February 11th. Presented in 2.35;1 anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 tracks, disc one features an audio commentary with director Bryan Singer and an "Enhanced Viewing Mode" with 23 segments: 6 deleted scenes and 17 behind-the scenes vignettes. Disc two features a new intro Singer, four featurettes ("The Uncanny Suspects," "X-Factor: The Look of the X-Men Costume," "Special Effects of the X-Men" and "Reflection of the X-Men"), Storyboard-to-animatic-to-film comparison, exclusive premiere footage from Ellis Island and around the world, multi-angle scene studies, still gallery, 3 theatrical trailers, 14 TV spots, 12 web interstitials, and an X-Men 2 sneak preview with exclusive set footage and the teaser. Retail is $26.95.
I suppose this is in lieu of a completely re-edited version ... hmmm, now I may be interested again.

Answers:

The previous press release talked about 24 deleted scenes, so what happend to the 18 deleted scenes all of a sudden

Answers:

Maybe they comprise the 23 segments ?

Answers:

It also doesn't list some of the extras from the original release, so you might need to have both to get everything?
Deaks.

There just doesn't seem enough on that new edition to make me want to part with the cash , even tho I usually do like a dts soundtrack :dork: , I'm happy enough with the edition thats already out on DVD :)

My sentiments exactly. I normally go for DTS releases but the hassle of selling my current R1 and buying the new one, for the sake of a DTS soundtrack (esp when the current r1 is pretty good) just doesn't seem worthwhile to me. I wish that companies would stop doing this and release a DTS edition to start with.

In a previous post I said much the same thing but I am interested to see how much the additional 'branching' scenes add to the film as my biggest bugbear with it has always been the sloppy editing.

Answers:

If there the added scenes are done with seamless branching, then I may well be persuaded.

The irony is that X Men should've had a dts track in the first place. It was dropped from the original R1 release fairly late on, which was very disappointing. Still, it's a fine disc (even if I did sell mine a year ago), but the new one is on my February shopping list for sure!

Answers:

Any info on whether they'll be seamless branching?
I can't be arsed with these "press enter" now jobs...

They will proberbly be put onto the X-Men Ultimate Edition, so it consides with the DVD release of X2!:dork:

www.davisdvd.com have a pretty naff cover art for this up.

Answers:

if the scenes are anything like the awful branching system on the first disc hen this release can bugger off, all the extended scenes played right after the normal versions so you got to see everything twice, and the second time in really poor qualit. yay.

dvdanswers has this news:
'Just a quick note to let you know that the twenty-four deleted scenes originally promised by 20th Century Fox for X-Men: Collector's Edition will now not be included as part of the package. Fox haven't said why the choice to cut the scenes was made. They probably didn't exist! The disc will be available to own from the 11th February. '
Oo-er!
