Question:
The only company still using R.C.E on their discs?......i thought everybody had stop using the stupid thing!......considering that most CT product is released at more or less the same time worldwide(give or take a month or so) it does seem rather pointless!
I need a reply.............anyone help?
20th century fox had it on their kung pow disc.
Columbia have restarted using RCE with a vengence over the last couple of months with Spider-man, Panic Room, Enough ... and expect it on Men in Black 2.
They are only using it for revenue protection as films like Resident Evil, Enigma, ... to which they dont have European rights are not RCE. Part of their strategy to rip off consumers here.
I agree there is no need to include RCE on disks like Spider-Man where there is less than a month between US and European DVD releases.
It is so they can charge more for DVDs in the UK and Europe especially for the 2 disks which have an rrp of £24.99 whereas based on US pricing they should be £19.99 or less.
Also seems pretty pointless as with it being around for sometime now virtually all new multiregion players can handle it with no workaround and on older players like my Sony 725 switching to R1 only plays RCE disks okay.
