Question:
I was very pleased to receive my Halloween Box set this morning from Amazon after deciding to buy when I read that all previous cuts were waived. First gripe Halloween 3: Season of the Witch is the cut 92 minute version. Two minutes is cut. Second gripe Halloween 6 Curse of Michael Myers is missing( they should have not included the unrelated no 3, which I happen to like in its uncut format anyway), instead H20 follows on.
The other films seem uncut, but Halloween 5 is a few minutes shorter than previous versions, but all the violence is still intact. We need a R1 v R2 comparison, because either Anchor Bay have cocked up or the BBFC have relented on their previous easing of H3 which is uncut in newish Castle video dvd version!

"Halloween III" is also in the wrong aspect ratio in the box set - 1.85:1 when it should be 2.35:1!
So pleased that Castle saw fit to issue "Halloween II" as a standalone disc 'cos that's the only one I wanted (or needed) from the set.
A friend of mine has told me that H3 in the set is the cut R4 australian version which is slightly different to the Thorn EMI cut version, but nonetheless still cut. H5 in the box set is heavily cut, more so in the UK print. Missing is The shape's pulling off Brady's head and a sex scene which is trimmed for the UK more. Also other gore scenes deleted too. H4 is cut, but I have no details on what is cut.
H1 may also be cut as 12 seconds of Michael's chasing Laurie were always cut on the UK video version and look to be missing here. TV has always shown the full print. Also I saw H2 uncut on first release and remember a scene where it shows Michael slipping on blood in the cooridor(from the nurse he killed by draining her blood in blood bags- Lance Guest is shown later slipping in her blood and knocking himself out!) and chases Laurie.
Avoid this box set. Cut to ribbons. I have the Castle uncut print, but it is a dreadful transfer unfortunately! We need a R1 comparison here to confirm these cuts or match if appropriate.
Another company own the rights to Halloween 6 hence it not being included in the boxset.

The same company owns H20 so thats unlikely to be the reason.
