Question:
Can anyone recommend any similar films to Hitch-Hike?
I'm not really looking at the mainstream genre here.
Psychos are essential. :D
The Hitcher?
Or does that not have the internet streed cred of some obscure, gratuitous European maniac flick?

I don't mind Hollywood stuff - but it must meet the following criteria:
Have a murderous maniac
Be somewhat violent
Not be a formulaic Hollywood movie
Be incredibly enjoyable
"Do you understand me?"
;)
Try these
The Giallo Box Set from Anchor Bay-four Italian giallos(murder mysterys),three of which are classics of the genre
Autopsy-anchor Bay release of Amando Crispino weird giallo
Torso-Sergio Martinos ground breaking gore classic
Day of the Maniac(R2 German/Austrian release of Martinos crazed giallo under the title of Die Farben Der Nacht)
Blue Holocaust/Buio Omega/Beyond the Darkness-Joe Damatos crazed ode to necrophilia/taxidermists!!-R1 Shriekshow
Blood and Black Lace-Bavas blueprint giallo, which is still being ripped off now(see I know what you did last summer!!)
Or if you are prepared to buy VHS tapes, track down the Uk Redemption/Salvation releases of The Fifth Cord, and also "My Dear Killer",two superb giallos.
Also, the release of Umberto Lenzis film "Eyeball" on R2 is worth tracking down!!-its not a good film, but is pretty funny and very violent!!
Look into those mate... I like horror movies. As you know.
I would prefer an "obscure, gratuitous European maniac flick". ;)
"Act natural. Don't do anything stupid." - ;)
How about House on the Edge of the Park? A nasty and offensive movie if ever there was one, and it also stars David Hess. Not that I'd recommend it you know.
I've got that mate. I've also posted on a few threads about that movie too.
Paul490 - Hess fan.
How about Ted Bundy?, i know it's not a European film, but there's no doubting he was a sick, twisted maniac.
jess francos faceless / 7 hyden park/ fight for your life / dont ride the late night trains / the cats murdering eye / death weekend these are a few i own personaly dont know if any have been unleashed on the general public via dvd yet. i managed to obtained full uncut originals from a fellow giallo _slasher freak from greece

Just watched that tonight...still don't know what to make of it
Very reminiscent of American Psycho's OTT acting and visuals
I want to see Fight For Your Life, but I don't think there's a DVD release anywhere...
rabid dogs and Last house on the left
these two spring to mind
I have seen LHOTL. Stunning movie.
Beast With A Gun (aka Streetkillers) is pretty good as well as the already mentioned Rabid Dogs (if you can find it).

How about Cut and Run aka Inferno in diretta (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0089338) by Ruggero Deodato?
or
Peeping Tom (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0054167)

two great films:clap: .....why didn't i think of them?:(
I would also recommend Beast with a Gun which is available as a very nice DVD from Anchor Bay R1.
The Smuggler from Fulci is another gritty gangster film, Italian style, and well worth a look.
Oh, and Fight for your Life was recently announced by Blue Underground for a R1 DVD release late next year.
