Wondered what anyones thoughts are on this topic. I'm thinking of getting the trilogy (i know they're making a fourth but....) and I can't decide between the R1 aand getting the boxset or getting the 4-disc Die Hard 1&2 and buying .....with a vengence seperately in its special edition format. ANy ideas on what I'd lose/gain from the trade-off (cept the R2 costing about £10ish more in total).

Well I got Die Hard I&II R2 SEs and then III SE separately on R1.
Down to preference really, just make sure that you you get the R1 of Vengeance tho.
Whats the difference in picture quality between the pal and ntsc (i know some people aren't bothered but it niggles me sometimes if its really noticable) - also whats int he R1 vengence that isn't in the R2 ? cheers

I think the R2 of Vengence is cut.
R2 DH3 is cut and loses the DTS soundtrack. Buying the 3 R2 versions could set you back any where between £40-£50, but the 6 disc R1 Ultimate Edition Trilogy is available for £29.99 from CDWOW and I think Play.com.
IMO the R1 set is so superb it's a bit of a no-brainer if you ask me.....
Be wary of the pq on DHWAV R1- it has the worst case of haloing in my entire 300-disc collection. And yes, I'm talking about the SE here. On my 28" widescreen it's incredibly distracting, so anyone with a bigger display should perhaps think of getting an uncut R4 or non-UK R2. It's that bad.

The R2 version of Die Hard WAV doens“t exactly lose the DTS track, but the featured DTS track is in French. Also, the mentioned TV spots aren“t featured on the disc. Final point (imo a bit important): the first 2 are packed in a nice carton digipack, the third in an amaray. It doesn“t make a beautiful picture in your closet whereas the R1 Ultimate Collection Box: Yippi-Ka-Yee!! ;)
