Question:
I was watching the news on BBC the other day and there was a report on Hollywood cracking down on Bollywood for remaking their films with Indian actors. One of the clips they showed was a Matrix remake and I was wondering if anyone knows where you might get this from just for a laugh?
Deaks.
the film is called - AWARA PAAGAL DEEWANA
& their only copyed the lobby sence

Tafsir;) Damn it, I'm not half as interested in it now:D.
I saw that clip on BBC as well. The scene was an excellent homage/balatant rip-off of The Matrix scene. Made me laugh to see Hollywood getting so hot and bothered as they continuously copy/remake European films.

The difference being of course - royalties and/or a buy-out is contracted with the story rights holders beforehand. Not so, in the case with Bollywood. It's about money.

I know its about money and that Hollywood does buy the rights before remaking (while Bollywood doesn't).
Legally Bollywood doesn't have a leg to stand on (in this case) but it still made me laugh to see Hollywood getting angry.
Forget about them copying The Matrix what's really hilarous is the hindi film version of 'bullet time', I saw a clip from a film and it was very very funny way, I think they just got the actor to stick his fist and leg out whilst he was suspended on wires and got the cameraman to run quickly around him.
Anyone know what film that featured in? I think the actor was Anil Kapoor???
They think its bad that Bollywood are ripping off the matrix what about hollywood ripping off Battle Royale and Ring???? Double standards are OK when theyr your won.

they haven't ripped off 'ring' they have paid for the rights to remake it...
i mean calling the remake 'ring' is hardly subtle if they were going to rip it off!
What about the reservoir dogs remake.
I think the cultural differences between Hollywood and Bollywood film goers must be huge because I can't quite see all the singing and dancing working in a film like that!
What about the Disney film The Lion King? This, to me, seems ever so similar to a certain Japanese Anime - Jungle Emperor. Even the names of the lead characters are almost the same - Simba, Kimba..... Disney, of course, deny that this is the case - despite a wealth of evidence to the contrary. Plus, seeing as the Japanese film is extremely well known within animation circles, I find it hard to believe that Disney had NOT seen the film.... But that is my opinion, so I may be wrong. *Lawyers take note*
I quite liked the Bollywood version of Leon - Bichoo. Some scenes are shot for shot! (As in camera shot, not bang bang peow gun shot.)
bollywood has been blatantly ripping off scenes from popular Hollywood movies for years and it surprises me to see that Hollywood has only just picked up on this now
Some funny ones that come to mind are:
'Dallas' intro -- copied in 'Beta' *ing Anil Kapoor and Sri Devi (i think?)
Lethal Weapon I scene where Mel Gibson goes is about to blow his brains out -- copied in a movie called 'Sadak' (meaning 'The Road') starring Sanjay Dutt...
theres loads of others but these are the ones that spring to mind right now..

Theres even an Bollywood version of Superman. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0297416/
I came across it while reading the trivia sections for the supes films.
bollywood is crap.. period.. with the exception of old (and some new) Amitabh Bachan classics, i dont think I would ever bother watching another bollywood movie ever again.. and I grew up of these movies..
If anyone has seen Main Hoon Na, there is an extremely poor attempt at the bullet time affect... Aarrrgghh...
If you think Bollywood Movies are bad, dont get me started on Pakistani Movies... LOL!!
Dude Bangali movie are worse than Pakistani movies!!

Yeah, that was when my alarm bells started ringing. Shirley Snowball must have noticed that? ;)
Still, it's good to see 8-] back - or am I going nuts? I was sure he/she was gone for a while there? :?:
Back on topic, I'd have said Hollywood was 'reaching' here. Even if they are being 'ripped off', I can't see it making a dent in their possible earnings.

I've been very busy since last September, and even now don't have much time - which is why I've been so absent.

P.S. No internal plumbing here.... ;)
I heard that they are making a spiderman remake!!! But he doesnt get his powers after being bitten by a spider, he gets it from a hindu priest!!?!

there's talk of Indian Spiderman comics
http://www.gothamcomics.com/spiderman_india/
Spider-Man India interweaves the local customs, culture and mystery of modern India, with an eye to making Spider-Man’s mythology more relevant to this particular audience. Readers of this series will not see the familiar Peter Parker of Queens under the classic Spider-Man mask, but rather a new hero – a young, Indian boy named Pavitr Prabhakar. As Spider-Man, Pavitr leaps around rickshaws and scooters in Indian streets, while swinging from monuments such as the Gateway of India and the Taj Mahal.
Mumbai’s (Bombay’s) first web-swinging Super Hero will be joined by a reinterpretation of the classic Spider-Man villain, the Green Goblin -- reinvented as a Rakshasa, an Indian mythological demon.
To me, that does sound pretty cool. Couldn't be worse than a London Spider-Man, could it now? :D
Didn't the S&M Brothers rip-off Ghost in the Shell plus many other Japanese / Hong Kong moments for the Matrix anyway? As always with Hollywood, plenty of double standards.
I want o copy of Indian Superman (http://www.stomptokyo.com/movies/s/superman-indian.html) now.

I'm not a huge fan of Bollywood films, but I had the pleasure of watching a film amusing entitled "Jism" last year while I was in Maldives. It started the inconceivably good looking (IMO) Bipasha Basu, and a some guy called John Abraham (a ringer, surely) who I think is her husband. Well worth a watch if you can't find anything else.
i havent watched a hindi movie for eons, they are all a pile of crap now.
A slight generalisation there methinks.
That Indian Spiderman looks pretty cool!
I saw Main Hoon Naa recently the bullet time spit scene is very funny! Well worth watching just for that (and Susmita of course! :luv: )
