Question:
I need some help narrowing down my choices for tonight to watch with my m8s. I have a long list here but i would like to narrow it down to three at the most:
THE HAUNTING - not really scary at all, but entertaining
STIR OF ECHOES - long time since i saw it but remember it did make me jump in places
PITCH BLACK - again not scary but entertaining
STIGMATA - never seen it, heard it was good
WHAT LIES BENEATH - freaky at the end but a bit dull in my opinion
AMERICAN PSYCHO - entertaining but not scary
ALIEN - a classic but watched not that long ago
ALIENS - again a classic but recently watched
JAWS - another classic movie, not scary
THE 13th WARRIOR - not scray but entertaining
HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL - freaky
JASON X - never seen a jason film, but this gets mixed reviews
THE HOLE - never seen it but meant to be very good
THE THING - a classic, great for suspense
EVENT HORIZON - extremely scary in places
THE SHINING - a classic but in my opinion not really that scary
THE EXORCIST - never seen it but have been told could be a bit dated for viewing
NEAR DARK - never even heard of it but again sounds very interesting
THE OTHERS - some moments that make you jump
thx
PS2 can only play R2 out of the box.
I have a Region X disc that lets me play all regions (worth buying if you regularily use your PS2 to play DVD's)
A nice double bill would be :
The Thing
Near Dark
Depending if they are now on your narrowed down list or not :)
The Last House on the Left - You may or may not find this disturbing. I did, on first viewing. But after that, it loses it's power.

Go for Near Dark.

Gotta love Mr. Collingwood's pink shirt though...

Got to agree, Near Dark and The Thing stand out amonst the other films.
Most of the others are fairly weak. I saw Last house on the left when it first came out before it was banned as a "video nasty", compared to some of the other stuff around at that time, I didn't get what the fuss was about. It's dull as dishwater. Apart from the bit where she bites his dick off that was quite funny.
Near Dark is classic. If you haven’t seen it it has to be your first choice. You could do worse than following it up with either The Thing and/or The Shining.
The film was still banned, though, when you saw it on video.
It was banned in July 1974 when Oppidan submitted the movie for a cinema rating.
thx guys, i think i'll take along NEAR DARK and THE THING and let them choose, but if the tv dosn't have an NTSC mode it looks like we'll be stuck with THE HOLE
