There is a GOD, but I knew this as Spielberg Exists but now I truly believe as my hopes I know longer dashed, we even get the longer documentry as well. I am so happy. Now come on Universal just say that we get the r1 BTTF boxset as well as you have made my year!

Excellent news for my third fave film!

I'm sorry but this news does not please me.
There is no way that Joe Public will be aware of this development.
In the meantime, Joe Public is aware of the upcoming 2 disc release - either through advance publicity or walking into the shop on Monday.
The existing publicity and package show the 2 disc release is a 'Limited Edition' and 'Available for a short time only'.
The 3 disc set is to be released on 9th December. The 2 disc set is released in 3 days.
What are people going to do? That's right, buy the 2 disc version.
Guys, DVD is mainstream now, and whan a product is mainstream you must be able to walk into a shop and buy it with confidence. You shouldn't have to scan the web for press releases every day to see what is happening.
Universal are going to get so many angry customer complaints over the next few weeks/months. And quite frankly, they deserve them - I've never known such mismanagment (and when addressing Universal UK, that's a feat in itself!).
Oh, and I also resent that the UK have to pay an extra £5 for the 3 disc version when the Americans 'Get it for Free' - and no, I don't really care about additional extras. The film is the most important thing, and I regard the 2002 version as nothing more than a useless 'bonus feature' in itself.

Yea I have to agree with you on some counts the announcement should have been made a long time ago, as no doubt some people have had there r2 copy sent by now by there respective online dvd shops, the same can be said for people who want the Ultimate edition of Et they have lost out because if they have ordered the r1 version thinking it was the best one to go for, they have also taken the wrong route.
It would have been in Universal's Best Intrests to make this information public some time ago, as they could have gained more sales in this region.
I also agree that the UK wing is hard enough to get in contact with as I could find no email address or website, so i emailed the american site if they could help in anyway, they said there was no email address they could give and they don't deal with the region 2 market, but they could give a Postal Address for the UK, how back dated is that?
Now they is Joe Public who will go into Our Price or V.shop or whatever it is called and buy it for £25 or similair price and will be a bit miffed to find a better release come out just in time for christmas...
But purely in a selfish mood I am happy.

Well I am going to wait but I have to agree Joe Public will probably pick up the one released in a few days time, thank god for the internet.

Answers:

Well, they may pick up some Christmas present sales bedcause most Joes leave it until the last minute. As long as the price difference is not too great they may opt for the better package. Maybe. Was going to get the US release but will give this a bit more thought now.
