Question:
Saw this at www.comingsoon.net.
McCallum said that Ep. III "in terms of scale, in terms of what's going on, in terms of story, everything it's going to be the biggest one.".... He also said there would be spectacular and numerous lightsaber battles. "Episode III is the last one. SO no-holds barred now." He also confirmed that Nick Gillard is coming back. And he wouldn't promise a happy ending. "There's not a lot of light there."
I like the sound of numerous lightsabre battle's

Hopefully no happy ending means that George Lucas will be frozen in carbonite and left to hang on a wall somewhere.Where there will also be a webcam pointing at him,so we can all log on and look at the bloke for ruining the WHOLE thing:mad:

I must be in the minority in not having any great problems with EP1 and EP2, with the latter being the better of the two. The lovey-dovey element of EP2 had to be developed in order to explain where the Skywalker family line originated, ending with Darth Vader, plus Luke & Leia in the original trilogy. Did people want more action at the expense of developing the backstory? Or are the anti-Lucas brigade just trashing the movies in order to trash Lucas?
He's addressed the DVD issue with the release of EP1 and EP2 on DVD. Granted there's no sign of EP4-EP6 coming out, but we all know that's because he wants to re-jig them post-prequel trilogy. If that enhances the overall Star Wars experience further, then I'm all for it. I don't have a problem with the extended editions (apart from the Han-Greedo scene). They enhanced the movies for me and no doubt many others.
Lucas owns the movies and can do what he wants with them, and we have to live with that. No amount of whining will get things changed unless he wants to, period. The sooner we all realise that, the better.
Roll on 2005 with the release of EP3 (and all the speculation that will begin in earnest from next year with the commencement of shooting), and the inevitable EP1-EP6 boxset release sometime shortly after that. :)

i'm with Cervaro on this - i'm one of those guys who saw Star Wars when he was six - and from that point it enveloped my whole childhood - i think i spent till i was about 12 only thinking of Star Wars. When i watch it now i get that warm glow thing you get when you remember the best bits of being a kid.
And despite that i still think epI & II are pretty good - obviously being 30 now they didn't have the same impact but i enjoyed them both thoroughly.
My advice to people who hate them so much is to
1. stop watching the new ones and ...
2. if you think you can do better - then show us.

How about sacking that ****, bringing back Gary Kurtz and just starting all over again with the prequels.
My only real problem with the Prequel films is Lucas over-reliance on CGI, rather than have practically everything filmed on bluescreen I would have liked to see more real sets.
LOTR was a good combination of real locations and sets, and CGI.....Episode II just looked too fake to me.
Don't get me wrong though, CGI is a terrific aid to filmmakers when done right, but I think it severly hampered the actors performances in Episode II because they didn't have a great deal to play off of.

Well yeah, but the problem was that the love story just didn't seem real or believable, and wasn't a patch on Leia/Han, which has far less time devoted to it and they were fighting for their lives during most of it. Maybe if they hadn't wasted so much time in Ep1 on inconsequentials and had Anakin so young, there could have been some forshadowing of this upcoming romance so it wouldn't have entirely fallen on ep2 to create a relationship out of thin air.

I think the bods at Empire put it best in their AOTC dvd review when they said 'George Lucas will not make another 'Star Wars' film', as in the fresh, funky Star Wars we all grew up with. That style has gone for good. It's sad, but that's the way it is. I dunno about you guys, but I'm counting the days until I get my uncut AOTC dvd...

Of course it's a relevant point. There are people constantly bitching because Lucas makes money from the marketing spin-offs after each and every Star Wars movie, and accuse him of tailoring the movies to enhance the same. So what, those same people obviously desperately want to see his next Star Wars movie, either because they like the series or just to whinge about the story, or there's too much CGI, or not enough CGI, or Darth Vader wasn't in the first movie, etc.....
Lucas makes the movies, he's scripted most of them, he finances them, his SFX house does the CGI, therefore he's earned the right to dictate the content and how they're produced. Live with it or go watch another movie for heavens sake!

Yes, but he refused to stock the 3 EPs prequel album because it was too commercialised, causing a riot at Champion Records when 40,000 Beta Band enthusiasts turn up claiming it to be at least as entertaining as the original 3 EPs....
Between The Phantom Menace and Attack Of The Clones I didn't watch any of the original trilogy at all due to my Laserdisc player finally giving up. So as far as the Star Wars saga goes I pretty much lived exclusively with Ep. 1 for three years. Over the last summer I saw ...Clones four times with the movie growing better and better with each viewing.

Unfortunately it's the prequels that have dated. Obviously stuff like the Rancor from Jedi look pretty poor by today's standard but the prequel universe as a whole looks totally fake, it's just one long intro from a PC game. There's also a distinct lack of heart and soul in much of the creativity, as it's not talented animators and such pain-stakingly crafting their vision on-screen, it's just computer geeks sat in a room producing 'spectacular' backgrounds to order.
I still say Lucas would have faired better by making the prequels look more like the originals. There's only so much dodgy cgi that can be added to episodes 4,5 and 6 and at the moment the prequels don't 'feel' like an integral part of the story. More like some sort of Star Wars spin-off.

Q When can we expect to see the first trailer for Episode III?
A Trailer? I don't have a script yet!
Timing from the last two films would suggest maybe around Thanksgiving of 2004, with the movie coming in the summer of 2005.

lucas can do whatever he wants with his own movies, and the viewer, thats right we are viewers, can either like em or not.

Q When can we expect to see the first trailer for Episode III?
A Trailer? I don't have a script yet!
Timing from the last two films would suggest maybe around Thanksgiving of 2004, with the movie coming in the summer of 2005.

go away u idiot!
he created star wars and all u can do is bitch about him taking his own story in a direction you might not like.
he can do whatever the hell he wants its his story and the attitude you purvey gives the impression that lucas should be doing the whole thing for you. he shouldn't. star wars is his baby and it always will be, he owes you nothing. so please grow out of your infantile, nerdish behaviour!

Is it not a relevant point.
his point is that you are just pathetically jumping on the anti-lucas bandwagon, when you actually have nothing of any kind of relevance to add to this thread.
lucas can do whatever he wants with his own movies, and the viewer, thats right we are viewers, can either like em or not.
