Band of Brothers question (not long to wait now!!)
Question:

my question is on whether the material is uncut. I read that scenes involving a flick knife were cut for the telvised broadcast (can't find any evidence to corroborate this though). I know the R2 lacks DTS.
Oh, and who is doing the cheapest R1 pre-order if I go R1 :)

Answers:

I've gone for amazon.ca....about $97 Canadian Dollars with shipping to the UK which works out at about £40

Answers:

According to the BBFC website all episodes are uncut.

But did the studio submit them pre-cut?

Another review here @ DVDAngle (http://www.dvdangle.com/reviews/review.php?Id=2754).
Has anyone got their copy and watched any episodes yet? The above review raves about the sound but others haven't been quite so enthusiastic. Is it a rival to Saving Private Ryan dts or not? :)

Watched six episodes yesterday for the first time and "WOW!", What an amazing series! The dts track is very lively during the battle sequences... I personal love war movies and watching BoB is likely watching a 10-hour version of Saving Private Ryan. :notworthy

Does anyone know if the R4 has DTS?

All the R4 retailers have DTS, some people on here doubt it. I have asked Tony of FBO on the forum if he could confirm it. Hopefully, he will let us know tomorrow.

From DVD Debate:
The upcoming R4 box-set of the WW2 television series Band Of Brothers will not feature a DTS soundtrack according to Warner Home Video.
Mirroring the recent R2 announcement, it appears only the R1 version will now feature a DTS track with the R2 and R4 making do with Dolby Digital 5.1.
Another source at DVDown Under confirms NO dts track:
No DTS for B.O.B
Just as Band of Brothers was screening on Free to Air TV via Channel 9, Warner were announcing the Region 4 DVD release of the 10 part mini-series. Most exciting was the news that B.O.B would receive not only a Dolby 5.1 track, BUT also a DTS track.
Sadly, the official press release got it wrong.... After hearing the Region 2 version of B.O.B was DTS-less, I got a bit concerned about our release and contacted Warner PR (given so many Warner DVDs for OZ are region 2/4 encoded..well at least those that aren't NTSC region 4 :)...
Low and behold, THERE IS NOT A DTS TRACK on the region 4 DVD release for Band of Brothers.

Any chance of a DTS track on a Euro-R2 (not UK)?
I'm reluctant to get an NTSC version, but then again I do want DTS. :(

I doubt it, I think that they will just keep the R2 as one printing without DTS.
Personally sticking with the NTSC version (mainly because I can but it locally though)

I've only ever seen the first 2 episodes and I'm not sure if to keep watching it on BBC2 or go for the boxset , cause once I've watched it the once I doubt I'll ever watch it again

Watching it with the dts soundtrack gives you a completely different experience than watching it on the BBC, trust me.

According to DVDAngle review of the R1 version, not much difference between DD5.1 & DTS.
Included for every episode are soundtracks presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1, as well as Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround. The Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 soundtracks are almost completely identical in nature, but to be honest, both of them are so incredibly amazing that either choice is sure to blow you away.
&
The DTS track features slightly boosted bass, but that is really the only difference between that and the Dolby 5.1 soundtrack.
The other review site also gives pretty much equal marks to the sound mixes:
In terms of direct comparisons between the Dolby and DTS mixes, the two are actually pretty equal, so those fans of either format who were looking for a war between the two on this disc has best look elsewhere as both sides have excellent sound mixes.

I'm sure the DD5.1 soundtrack would also blow the BBC version as well.
