Question:
Just got my R4 of A Hard Day's Night. Does anybody know what's happened to the promised Running Jumping Standing Still short film, supposed to be one of several extras on both R1 and R4 editions? Unless it's been hidden as an Easter Egg I'm jiggered if I can find it. :(
The extras now appear to consist of several interview pieces ranging from about 2 to 28 minutes with just about everybody connected with the production. (Meanwhile, EzyDVD's product description online has dramatically, possibly ominously, changed to reflect this list of interviews). Good value there, but...? I haven't watched them all through yet by any means, but I would have expected the above short to have a menu button of its own...?
But the picture itself looks lovely. And they've deleted the 1982 reissue prologue (that dodgy video clip for "I'll Cry Instead") from the print.
I'm waiting for this at the mo so glad to hear the picture is good. I hope regionds outside of R1 aren't going to be shafted on the extras front (again!). Hope you find the short :)
I say, drat! :(
I also have this on the way from R4, and shall be thoroughly peeved should this announced feature be lacking, old beans.
By the way, can someone tell me if the R4 disc of "A Hard Day's Night" is Widescreen (1.66:1) or not? I understand that the Miramax 'Special Edition' is WS but there are so many different specs announced that i don't know who to believe.
Raigmore,
The R4 is a PAL version of the Miramax edition. Rewind states that the CEs in R1, R2 and R4 are identical. But the R4 is indeed 1.66:1 and, despite what Rewind says, it isanamorphic.
One or two instances of "rainbow" colouring on clothing too, but otherwise a lovely print. But no trailers, no Running Jumping etc, just a mass of variable interviews and a retrospective featurette which spends much of its time seemingly cobbling together bits of these. Rewind, it seems, recently posted this updated information (alas, most of us had already ordered based on way-out-of-date info from retailers, and presumably also from the distributor, who should now be smacked soundly), and a number of us may be feeling slightly cheated for the price we in fact paid.
:(
So, taking the Video, Audio and Extras into context, which region DVD is the best buy for "A Hard Day's Night?"
