Where did you buy yours from ??:)

Answers:

DVDBoxoffice - $89Canadian - I know I could've probably got it cheaper elsewhere, but I've never had any customs problems with DVDBO and their delivery seems to be excellent at the moment.

Answers:

I went for this one too & think it's terrific.
One of the most interesting features is the short documentary about this year's charity premiere of the 20th Anniversary edition, which was accompanied by John Williams conducting the score with a live orchestra -- what a brilliant idea, and I'll bet it went without a single hitch.
Fantastic also that you have the option to hear this version on the DVD.
Apparently an earlier laserdisc of E.T. had a 2-hour documentary where this one's is only 50m, but if you add up all the material on this set it probably comes to the same thing -- for instance, the disc containing the 1982 original has an additional 40m "look back".

Answers:

I know this has been answered before with a "no", but could the new owners of the Canadian version re-confirm that it's free of any bi-lingual stuff on the cover? Many thanks.

Answers:

No bi-lingual stuff on the Collectors box-set!

Is there an Amaray inside all the rest of it?
How much damage was it in GBP on your CC?

Answers:

plop - mine's already on it's way, but I was considering flogging it straight off and getting the two discer insted, but now it sounds so nice that I don't think I'll be able to!!

Answers:

No amarays inside, it's a fold-out cardboard affair, á la "BTTF"
Couldn't tell you the price in £'s as I don't have online access to my CC bill:)

Answers:

Here are some pics of the boxset. As you can see the discs are contained in a digipak style holder, with the soundtrack CD leaflet held loosely inside.

I paid DVD Soon $60.06 CAD or about £24.75 at todays exchange rates (from Xe.net). :D

Good Price:thumbs:
Saying that, I still don't feel ripped off by paying what I did!

Unfortunately this gift set loses the DTS track on the original 1982 version of the film (in favour of Spanish & French 5.1 tracks  )
See here for details:

Still it's an essential purchase for any fan of the film!

Just noticed on the Senitype, it says
The E.T. Senitype is exclusively produced for Universal Studios Home Video's E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial 2-Disc Limted Collector's Edition.
So, do you get it with the 2-disc edition or does it just come with the 4 disc Ultimate Gift Set?

Answers:

Just received mine this morning.
Definitely the right choice, as far as I`m concerned.
My senitype is numbered 023909.
Only minus....my ribbon is creased, time to get the steam-iron out. ;)
Looks good next to my other `ultimate boxset`.

Toothy - What is that Jurassic Park set that you have on display? Would you mind posting the details, never seen that before.. Thanks

Answers:

The Jurassic set comes with the first two films (inc extras - but no DTS if you're after that), two CDs for the films - both in normal cases (Lost World was orignally in a digipack), senitype and cert. Very good boxset, although I punted the second disc on grounds of poorness.

Answers:

This is the set I bought from Amazon.com last year, for the then Bargain price of less than $60 (around £40 at the time!). Even better, I was amazed not to get hit for a customs charge considering you could have nearly fitted a 14" TV into the box! Currently costs $107.98 + shipping.
http://mysite.freeserve.com/CasaCervaro/JPLW_collectors_set.jpg
And the contents are:
Jurassic Park includes: Documentary, Pre-productions meetings, Storyboards, Foley Artists, Phil Tippett Animatics, Productions photos and notes
Lost World includes: Documentary, Deleted Scenes, Illustrations and Conceptual Drawings and Storyboards, Models, The World of Jurassic Park
Both Discs include: Industrial Light and Magic Dinosaur Encyclopedia
Unique to this Limited Edition Set is 2 Soundtrack CDs, Senitype, and Certificate of Authenticity

According to the DVD File there is a feature called “Spielberg – A Look Back”, which is a 38 min look at his career, but also a feature called “Creating ET”. I’m sure they mentioned the second feature in their original review, but is seems to be missing from the re-edited version.
Can anyone with the 3-disc set confirm that “Creating ET” is included and that it’s the feature showing how the new CGI effects were added into the film?

Answers:

I got my E.T from Play, but me get no customs charges  . This is an excellent set, but very prone to fingerprints!
There is a feature showing how the new CGI was added, but dont know what its called. I would look, but I'm here and my set is over there.

How much customs did you lot get clobbered with - I got £16 - nearly £8 was the PO:shocker:

Is the Ultimate Gift Set for sale at Play the same as the DVDSoon one?
Only asking because Play state 3 discs (DVDSoon state 4 discs) and the Play picture of the set is a silver colour whereas the DVDSoon one is Dark Blue.

The one from Play IS 4 discs if you include the soundtrack cd (which is what dvdsoon have probably done).

Cool - cheers mate.
I actually have one currently "lost in the post" from DVDSoon :( and decided that I can't be arsed to wait 120 days before DVDSoon consider it lost!
I'll get one from Play and if my DVDSoon one does turn up I'll flog it on.

Just read a mag review of the E.T. SE and a compo gives away as one of the prizes the book we all got - they said the RRP was £20:shocker:

Just recieved this the other day, very impressive. I haven't got round to watching the film yet but am at present listening to the soundtrack as I write this. I forgot how fantastic this score was. There also seems to be extended and new tracks which weren't on the original release (which i still have on vinyl). If you are unable to get this fantastic gift, go and buy the soundtrack...you wont regret it.

Answers:

Either that or save yourself £40 and get the Canadian 2 Disc set which still includes both the new and origional theatrical release for a mere £15 (for those people who are not too bothered about losing some extra features)

There is no dts on the 1982 version on the 3 disc R1 gift set (not even DD5.1, only Dolby 2.0 Surround!).
The 2 disc R1 set however does have DTS on the 1982 version.
The 3 disc R2 also has DTS on the 82 versions, apparently (haven't confirmed this), but, the big question is whether the R2 3 disc = R1 2 disc (i.e. more discs for PAL and languages but it's really just the 2 disc, not the same as the R1 3 disc) ???
R4 3 disc 1982 DTS...??? no idea.

Answers:

The 3 disc set has 5.1 for both versions.

Answers:

I also got this 4 disc edition from DVDSoon (bargain at £10:nuts: ) and I have to day it's one of the nicest DVD sets I've ever seen. It's just a shame they had to rip some things out of it, kind of takes away the 'Ultimate Edition' feel of it.

Answers:

Can i just say what a great film this is.I hadn't seen it for years, since it first came to the cinema, but still got butterflies from the Spielberg magic. And what a Score!I was worried that the new effects might spoil it,but they have been done excellently.
This is the finest DVD in my collection and probably will be for some time.

Yes, you're right. I got confused (which is easy given the info Universal have given out) because of the misleading info on the sets. One report originally said it was Dolby Surround, but that turned out to be a confusion between the 3rd disc extras and the 1982 version.

2 disc R1 has both versions of the film. 2 disc R2 does not (though the upcoming 3 disc R2 apparently does).
Main differences between the two is that the remaster has some deleted scenes reinstated together with some CGI that looks totally out of place (think, Star Wars: SE), and thanks to yanks obsessed with the word 'terrorist', a certain word has been changed for no sensible reason at all. Also they replaced some guns at the end with walki-talkies. Stupid and pointless, but anyway.

think i'll avoid it then... cheers.
