Question:
Reading Stupid White Men at the moment and it's fantastic!!!
Has anyone picked up the S1 or S2 sets of this yet??? Wondered if they had any extras and generally whether the presentation was any good. They're only around £20 each from dvdboxoffice, so might well go for one or both anyway.
Can't wait for "Bowling For Columbine"
oh....anyone know of a dvd release of Roger and Me?
I've got the awful truth, good set, can't rememeber if there are any extras though (I'll have a look when I get home and check)....
The second series of The Awful Truth has a Moore commentary track on a couple of the episodes.
Great stuff.
Didn’t like The Awful Truth. TV Nation was waaay better.
Just started Stupid white men last night too...i was left reeling just by the first chapeter
Yep, there is some very scary stuff in there.......:(
he does get carried away a bit in the "what men have done to women" chapter from the point of view of overdoing the "I'm a man and feel personally guilty about what other non related males have done to women while I wasn't there and before I was born" attitude.
Btw he's doing 20 shows at the Roundhouse in london (the circular engine shed that was a gig venue back in 60s/70s and has now been reopened) from the 7th to 23rd of November. Mind you I'm not sure whether any of his former work mates in Flint Michigan could afford ticket prices at £30 plus booking fee for the front block and £17.50 for the rear. Me thinks I'll just pay £25 instead for front block seats for an obscure red haired american woman pianist by the name of Tori Amos whose sold a few cds here or there.
Good though it was at times, the book is just a bit too frothily left wing even for me!!
I skipped some bits. The best bit is undoubtably the introduction where he lays out what a total fascist system came down on them after 11th September.
I would recommend even the most right-wing of members to have a read of the intro next time they see it in a bookshop!!
I started Stupid White Men yesterday too. Enjoying it so far - introduction was eye-opening and the first chapter on the election theft was very good.
I'm seeing Moore's new film and his interview at the London film festival next month. Can't wait.
