Question:
I am not sure if this is in the right section so please forgive me.
The problem i have is with the 1991 Cape Fear (r2). In general the transfer is great with a very sharp picture. However, i have noticed a rather strange artefact that i have never come across before (i have well over 50 dvds). In certain sequences the movement of the actors seems unnatural. for example the scene when Danni is talking to her friend in the school corridor on her way to the drama studio. Just before she reaches the double doors she hops, skips (whatever). For a split second she seems to move quicker than she actually should as if a frame has been skipped. I know that dvds can skip on occasion but this is not what i am experiencing. Can anyone shed any light on this please?
Could be a missing frame on the original print.
I have noticed (not sure if anyone else has) that in Empire Strikes Back there is a "jump" in one scene, during the Battle of Hoth, there is a short scene with Han and Chewie fixing the Millenium Falcon, there is a jump of about 2-3 frames - watch the soldiers in the background.
Either that or a change in the shutter speed can alter how the image is displayed.
I recently watched it on Sky Digital and there was no problems with the scene i mentioned!
What's the exact time on the dvd? I'll check it out.
I've just watched it (Cape Fear R2 1991), and noticed that too.
I get bugged by the poor editing in Jaws. In the scene where Dreyfus is examining the body he says 'This is what happens...' and then it cuts to another dialogue halfway through the sentence. Very poor.
Great movie though :)
