Question:
I've finally got my copy of this DVD yesterday. Gremlins 2: The New Batch has always been a favourite of mine, and I like it far more than the original.
It's funnier, less violent, and crazier. The voice of the "Brain" gremlin is insane!
You gotta love those giggling buggers!
What does everyone else think?
"He he he he he he he he he..."
Why would you like it because it's "less violent"?
Are you a BIG FREAKIN' GIRLY?!?
The violence in this sequel is a lot more fun, and less like a horror film.
But I love horror, and gore, one hell of a lot.
And a great first start to your DVD Forums membership balmcake.
It's not really less violent, they actually cause more damage and death, it's just more humorous.
I love this movie more than the first as well and it's one of my all time favorites from the childhood, two best scenes are when gremlins hog the phone lines in stocks section screaming "Buy, buy! Sell! Buy! Sell! Sell!" and the smart Brain gremlin says on the phone "I'm advising my clients to put all their money in canned food and shotguns!"
The other one is when Brain gremlin goes on the TV interview to talk about what their species are like and want, and this stooopid gremlin with a propeller hat and  eyes pops up laughing hysterically, and Brain gremlin takes out a gun and shoots him point blank in the face, saying something like "Now was that civilized?":p
"Now was that civilised? No, clearly not. Fun, but not civilised."
Sorry, 'Joey' B...
Are you Paul490's special friend? Do you too grow feint at the sight of furry aggro?
I've watched all SEVEN 'Playschool' films without (much) assistance!

Dragging this back on topic GREMLINS 2 is probably the only monster movie to reference Susan Sontag!

My goal in life is to be a gremlin.
And who the hell is Susan Sontag?!
Susan Sontag (1933-)
American 'new intellectual' and writer, a leading commentator on modern culture, whose innovative essays on such diverse subjects as camp, pornographic literature, fascist aesthetics, photography, AIDS, and revolution have gained a wide attention. Sontag has published novels and short stories, and written and directed films. She had a great impact on experimental art in the 1960s and 1970s and she introduced many new ideas to American culture.
Interesting. :)

So did I - it had more of a Currier & Ives hometown feel to it than the sequel, which although visually and technologicaly superior, lacked the charm of the first one. :D
As you might have guessed from my sig I'm quite fond of Gremlins 2. :D

After watching the film when I first got the DVD I now see why you have the "canned food and shotguns" line. I thought it would be some sort of recent American war movie.
I do like the Futtermans though a lot, both in the original and the sequel.
"Goddamn foreign TV. I told ya we shoulda got a Zenith!"
My word, Paul, you really are a David Brent in the making!
