Help needed tracking down a Hong Kong Film...
Question:

O.K. this is 'really' vague. I saw a martial arts film a while ago on Channel 5, it was obviously dubbed, but the film looked very cool, dark lighting, cool clothes etc. and quite modern. From what I can remember about it the main guy had some kind of super-power/item type thing going on...erm, he had to rescue a girl and (possibly) another guy from this gang - he may have been a cop, not sure. Also I believe that the second guy actually dies!
If anyone can help me remember more about this film and possibly establish what the title was I would certainly appreciate it.
Cheers

Hey-hey, what do you know, Black Mask could be it! although I am not sure I remember the main guy being a librarian? Was there a good girl character and bad girl character in this film? Also, back to my previous description, I suppose it goes without saying that the fight scenes in the film were very good! (now off to check the other one)... thanks for your input guys!

Just viewed Hakaider at Imdb as ralph wiggum
suggested, I don't think I have ever seen this one, sounds different though, is it any good?

Answers:

Black Mask has been shown on Chan...err i mean 5 a couple of times so that could be the one.

Hakaider isn't bad, but not a patch on Black Mask. Avoid the British R2 release of Black Mask as it's 4:3 and go for the R1 (should be able to pick it up cheap, and it's got 5.1 sound).

It's definitely Black Throat...
DEFINITELY...

If you're going to get Black Mask - ALL of the widely available DVD versions are cut apart from the Taiwanese Ritek disc which is fairly hard to get hold of. However I believe www.dvdunited.co.uk are getting some in :D

Cool, thanks for the help guys... Ordered R1 for 10.99 from play... Cannot wait!

Cheers Peter UK, i didn't know there was a completely uncut version available anywhere on DVD (i have an old vhs one).
Do you know anything about dvdunited? It seems a bit complicated to order from them.
