has anyone heard anything about a new Badlands dvd?
the r2 project's weekly roundup of BBFC decisions shows a 23 mn documentary "Absence of Malick" passed.
looks extremely promising to me.
This is absolutely fantastic news. Badlands is my favourite film and the thought of any supplementary material is astounding and very exciting. I suspect Warner will be looking at a release timed to coincide with the True Romance SE (for obvious reasons).
Guessing early 2003. I can't wait.

What makes you think that the doc. will be attached to a revised BADLANDS DVD?
Could be DAYS OF HEAVEN or a THIN RED LINE (Special Edition - with all that missing footage??)

Hopefully it'll include clips of his failed 'Beginnings of Life' feature and some examples of his Parisian tonsorial skills.

only 23 mins yeah, but there's no indication that this is solely about Badlands. it's just called 'Absence of Malick'
my only concern is that it may just be an extension of the mid-90s 'Moving Pictures' which covered a similar topic, ie where Malick went, and lasted around 20 mins.
but still it'll be nice to replace my old early 90s BBC2 vhs copy.

'Absence of Malick' doc includes brand new interviews with Sheen and Spacek and other crew members. Needless to say no Malick participation.
This is my favourite film of all time. Fantastic news!
Play list it as January 20th, though Warners release list has it as a March release so.....who knows ?
