Question:
Just by chance been watching this on TCM.
I'd forgotton how good it is but to my horror it's not on dvd yet! :(
Does anyone know if this is planned for release at all? (with the 3-D version too by any small miracle?!)
Wish I'd taped it now! :brickwall
A few mentions over here in the Regions Comparison forum...
thanks, I'd forgotton about that thread!
I imagine the 3D version would be technically impossible without some very expensive conversion - old-fashioned red-green 3D is just about the only system that would translate to video/DVD without special treatment.
In any case, while it's certainly interesting to watch and I'm glad I've had the chance to see it, it really isn't an especially good example of 3D - Hitchcock hated the process and did his best to undermine it by using tons of back projection, which rather defeated the purpose!

There's hardly any back projection used in Dial M For Murder iirc. Almost the whole story takes place on one set - inside the apartment of the Wendices. The use of one set was in fact more or less dictated by the 3D camera's which were nearly immovable.
