Question:
Now, little me fancies upping his anime collection again. I know both series are pretty different, but if you had to go for one boxset only, which would you go for?
Someone was also telling me to look out for something called "Neai Under 7" or something - Anyone know about this?

both?
;)
Both would be luuuuverleeeee! But I would also have to make buyage of the movies too.... and my bill would be well nigh on £300!!
Neon Genesis Evangelion is shockingly overrated. It's actually quite dull and predictable. Vision of Escaflowne is brilliant, but I suggest Cowboy Bebop over everything else.
If you aint got Lain get that, it`s fantastic
I pity Dagada he is probably more confused than before he posted his original question.
(I would recommend Now & Then, Here & There BTW ;) )

I have Lain, and Cowboy Bebop already, and both are superb.... Oh, and Now &Then, Here & There is on order....
I'd REALLY like the box sets of Urusei Yatsura, as it's my favourite series ever - but they're only available to people in the US. :-(
Fushigi Yugi.... Good Lord!!! To get all of those, I'll be bankrupt!!! Looks good, though.

You can get the individual volumes though :)

I'm bankrupt after forking out for Fushigi (which i still haven't watched.. figures)
As for your question. I prefered Escaflowne, great series and slightly better plot wise and coherency. Evangelion was good but towards the end it became rather obscure. Also you will need to get all the movies in order to see the ending properly.
However Evangelion will be considerably less than Escaflowne. If you can find it then you're likely to pay a kings ransom.. The last two have gone for £200 on ebay, both culprits from these forums ;). The US based auctions though are still £133 (about £150 inc shipping)
Region 4 boxset of Evangelion is out next month i think.

There are only two Evangelion movies, Death and Rebirth and End of Evangelion. Death and Rebirth is just a recap of the series and half of End of Evangelion, as I understand, so the only movie you need to buy is End of Evangelion unless you are a completist. :)
Devoted have sent out my R4 EoE now - very cheap too. :)
