Question:
Due to the recent sniper shootings in the US, phone booth has been postponed from it's American release in November.
Doesn't that kinda give away the storyline?

I suppose it's inevitable really - if they release now they will probably lose quite a lot of money due to people boycotting it.
That's so stupid, I'm tired of all the sensitivity. So what some guy is having some fun with a rifle and hasn't even been caught yet, he's giving everyone an example of what one can get away with and how unsafe you really are.
Phone Booth is just an entertaining movie that many have been waiting for for a while and now this. :oh-hum:
Well his (and yours?) definition of fun differs to mine, because I don't think shooting 13 year old kids is "fun".

some call it a knee-jerk reaction, some call it appropriate sensitivity.
does it really matter if the release date of a movie or a computer game is put back a little??????
I really don't see how it's appropriate sensitivity, in fact I would imagine these people who do such things may very well do it for the attention, these knee jerk reactions are the worst idea as it gives these people the idea that they have even more power

I don't think that people involved with postponement, if any, give a crap about the families. The only reason they'd delay is because there are thousands of potential sensitive customers who will not go see their movie and that could translate into a few millions of dollars in losses, so it's just a business decision.
Lenny, i find your comments highly offensive. The news this weekend of both the snipers actions and the tragic events in Bali have been hard enough to stomach as it is without people such as yourself being utterly insensitive. Please think before you type.

I did not say that I personally would like to have fun with a rifle like he, or that I don't care about the families, I just said how I perceive things to most likely be from their perspective so that I could rationalize it.

Sad but so, so true. Imagine the protests if Fox were to launch it now? They will wait till they still get negative publicity for releasing it but not enough to stop people going to see it

Why not come by your local Snipers'R US franchise location and pick up a real thing for your teenaged son! Get in on the FUN! Maybe he'll shoot himself, or better yet, you and put you out of the nursing home misery where he'll definetly stick you sooner or later.

The reason I mentioned GTA Vice City earlier by the way is because a mate of mine who heard about the sniper killings who has recently played GTA3 said to me "I heard about that and thought about that Grand Theft Auto game you have, how did they get away with that?"

why don't they just release the film in all the other countries and set the US release date to after all the other english speaking countries. That way they'll get to see the films in the same state as us with a certain amount of wear and tear :).
Personally I blame Spike Lee for making that film Summer of Sam, after all who would have thought of that idea otherwise (aside from Son of Sam himself of course).
