Question:
What films do you think are underated? They may be relatively well known (or unknown for that matter), but which films are generally unapreciated by the masses?
One such film I want on DVD and I think is underated is the Bill Murey comedy Quick Change, or the thriller To Live And Die In LA..... what about you??

All those are overratted, surely? :D
Overratted?
Rat Race is a hilarious gumball rally type comedy not.
I have never left the cinema so quickly.
1out of 5:notworthy
Indiana Jones and the something of something has loads of rats in it... you know! that bit when they hide in the coffin!
And The Rats would have loads too, if it were a movie and not just a book.
Very funny  :o
Now, I've sorted the mistake...... Any serious answers??

Scorsese's "After Hours" :rocker:
EDIT: spelt Scorsese wrong!
[glugs down bottle of Domestos in shame]
I'd agree with Tee , To Live and Die in LA is an underrated classic , I'd also maybe say The Keep :) oh and Basil the Great Mouse Detective
I wanna add Judgement Night. A fantastic film that should have been bigger. Much.

Yes, definately. I bought it on NTSC VHS just because I wanted to have it goddamit...
I'd have to add:
Dazed and Confused
Buffalo '66
Being There ( I LEik To watch )
Nuns on the Run
The Young Poisioners Handbook
Caro Diario
The Hotel New Hampshire
Tesis
Either long forgotten, or recieve blank looks when asking someone if they've seen 'em.
In total agreement regarding "Quick Change" and "Nuns On The Run", but would also add "Toy Soldiers" and "Summer Of Sam" to the list.

Coupe De Ville
Born in East L.A.:smokin:
Eve's Bayou - a very underrated and unknown film with Sam Jackson's best performance
Lonely Are The Brave - a wonderful film with Kirk Douglas that I caught on BBC2 one afternoon and haven't stopped thinking about it since.
Foreign Correspondent - the best unknown Hitchcock
With Great Joy - a great Dutch film that I saw a year ago and has not surfaced anywhere other than the odd film festival.
I happen to think Smashing Time is one of *the* films of the 60s. It's admittedly silly but great fun and I don't know one person who's seen it who didn't love it.
Friday (ice cube & chris tucker) :smokin:
Strange Brew, which I've just noticed has recently been released on DVD
i think the hitcher was a great film
one of them films where you say to yourself "what next"
type of films
shame the dvd was so bad
I think The Hidden deserves to be better known, and The Final Countdown , with Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen
2 words: CAST AWAY
An instant classic as far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure that in about 10 years time people might start realising that too.... watched it yet again last night, it gets better and better everytime... superb, superb, superb!
I'd second Cast Away. I'd also say The Straight Story for drama and KingPin for comedy.
The scent of green papaya.:)
Time regained.:)
The Boondock Saints and Pheonix are two little seen gems that will be available at the end of the month on dvd for around a fiver each

...second "The Changeling" and add Don Siegel's 1970 The Beguiled - a nicely sinister movie that pits hunky Clint Eastwood against Geraldine Page, a woman not to be scorned...
. . . . . .
I want to see Looker again on DVD.
Story by Michael Crichton, Susan Dey naked and the best weapon I've ever seen in a film - (that time freeze gun thing).
Also Goliath Awaits - as mentioned many times before on these forums.
