Question:
When I got my copy of Frank Herbert's DUNE - Special Edition/Director's Cut recently, there is a small reference to STARGATE: THE ULTIMATE EDITION being released in "Fall 2002" from Artisan.
Does anyone have any other details as to exactly when and any specs on this DVD release? Or where information/details can be found?
Dunno, but I'm waiting for this aswell. I'm hoping it will include the features from the French R2. I got that but sent it back to Amazon as it had fixed subs, on my player anyway.
I'd also love to get hold of the multi-media CD-rom that came out with the original cinema release.

Was originally due for October but DVDFile mentioned has been postponed to some time in 2003
Just get the R2. It is the directors cut and has DD 5.1/DTS 5.1.
It is also only £6.49 from play. I paid £14 for mine so it is a bargain.

Yes, but it doesn't have the making of etc.. of the French R2.

It also doesn't have the theatrical version on it. I suspect the new R1 will be a catch up with either the UK or French R2 ie DTS and anamorphic possibly with the extra bits of the french one (both versions and extra features)
....and, I've read elsewhere, the pic quality of the added scenes on the UK R2 is noticeably poorer than that of the rest of the film.

Agree with this. It is very noticeable when watching. The extra scenes look like poor zoomed letterboxed in the anamorphic picture. The picture sizes dont quite match and it is much more grainy.
These scenes look better with my R1 disk even though it is non-anamorphic and then zoomed on my Tv to get the right shape.

There are no concrete details for this - I guess its just a matter of waiting until they decide to actually go ahead with this. :(
