Question:
Just a quick check.
Im sure that there are some extra extras on the R1's that are not on the R2 +4's on IMOM & TSWSM.
UPDATED - PLEASE CHECK MY LAST POST.
it's not just about 'which has the best extras' here. The R1 of the first film has been strangely cropped apparently!
The R1 of the second is best according to Rewind, but I'd go for the R2 of the other one...

R1 of the original IMOM is opened out to 1:85:1 (apparently) and not cropped.
However, it's severly cut (at source by Roach and Myers) for some great jokes and not all of these are included as extra scenes.
Make sure you get R2 for the first movie.

Technically there shouldn't be that space after the first set of quotation marks and before the 'r'!!:D
Definitely R2 for IMOM, on R1 they don't have the henchmen death aftermath phone calls FFS:rolleyes: (they were not in the US theatrical cut either), I believe the orange sherbert is cut as well.
Re: IMOM. The version we have is basically R-rated, rather than the pg-13 American version that Roach and Myers were obliged to produce. According to their commentary on the R1, one gag alone (which is intact on the R2) would've got the movie an R. The line in question is: "I never forget a pussy.....cat". The gap between "pussy" and "cat" was edited out of the American version at the MPAA's insistence, ruining another joke to get more bums on seats.
The UK version has so many more scene extensions and entirely new scenes than the American version it's like a different movie. Seriously. And the fact that we get Christian Slater and his "Orange Sherbert" in the movie (which isn't even in the R1's deleted scenes section) is an added bonus.
The funny thing is, Roach and Myers talk very fondly of some of the deleted material (like the henchman's wife sequence) and how it had to go from the US cut of the movie for pacing reasons, then it all ends up in the UK version! Well, whether they approved the UK edit or not, it's a far funnier movie than the US version. So there.

I think its just that they are contractually obligated, or at least its an unwritten rule, that they don't portray the US cut as censorship or "inferior" in anyway. I bet that the European cut is their preferred cut in reality.
Thanks for that.
I have orded IMOM R2 from Play for £9.
They also have TSWSM R2 for £6.49, is the Dr Evil extra worth paying the extra £10 for a R1 for?
new, if you're interested IMOM is only 7.95 at DVDplus (http://www.shopcreator.com/mall/dvdplus/frameset.cfm) - I ordered yesterday. Also splash (http://www.splashdvd.com/splash/search.cfm) have it for 7.99
Thanks rwoolst:thumbs:
