Question:
Just a quick question.
Does anyone has info about why the box set R4 is rated M15+ but all the singles dvds are rated PG. Is there a reason or is it just the amount of Evangelion that requiers a higher rating.
Or is something missing from the singles dvd?

AFAIK the box set IS just the single DVD's packaged together.
But when you get them, promise me you won't watch the truely aweful dub.
Have you checked the individual rating for every DVD in the boxset John? Coz if just one DVD has just one feature that's 15 rated then the entire boxset has to be rated 15.
Just checked and discs 7&8 got M15's, the rest PG's. Reasonably surprised that disc 6 didn't get a M15 as well myself.
How much can you get this boxset for?
Never seen an episode but REALLY interested!
if you want to check it out it is shown on the Sci-Fi channel on Thursday nights and as part of a show called Saiko which is shown on Sundays and Mondays - it is dubbed tho ..you would've thought they could've shown it in Japanese with subs for the Thursday night showing so that viewers had the option
The boxset can be had for ~£60 from either R1 or R4. If you get to episode 24 then think "WTF?!!" for episodes 25/6, don't despair, get the End of Evangelion movie out now in R1/4, which kind of replaces episodes 25/6. Whether EoE can co-exist with eps 25/6 or whether they are mutually exclusive depends on your PoV, but it does make a hell of a lot more sense on the narrative level and explains some of the conspiracies etc. even if you believe that eps 25/6 is the more "correct" ending.
Buy Escaflowne instead. It's better and the movie wont leave you with the mental scars that EoE will. :)

Thanks, Then I'll know.
But when I'm checked all the singles the 7&8 weren't marked M15+ .. Oh well at least there's nothing cut anyway.
Yes the dub stinks but the bashing I've got from my girlfriend for watching japanese animation in japanese with english subtitles were not nice .. but she will learn .. :)
Time to take out the Visa and buy the last discs and the movies now .. :)

The Eva dub has a reputation of being above average, but I wouldn't really know personally, I only checked ep 8 to see if they changed the scene where Asuka changes Eva-02 from German to Japanease.

Since you mention "movies" plural, I word of warning about Death & Rebirth, the Death section is really just a recap, kind of in the style of the ep 12(or was it 13?) recap and the ep 21 flash backs but more weird;). It does have a couple of new scenes, and a couple of scenes are redone with better animation. The new scenes do appear in the Japanease "directors cut" of eps 21-24, but these are very, very unlikely to ever see a release outside of Japan(where they have no English subs either).
The "Rebirth" section is just the first 20minutes or so of "End of Evangelion."
One thing I did notice in my brief check of the dub is that they can't pronounce "Eva". They say "A"-va, even just saying "ever" would have been an acceptable pronounciation, giving the normal allowance for some Anglicisation of the vowel sounds.
I've noticed that Death & Re-birth is a re-cap and also show the same as the end of evangelion but I'll think I'll buy it anyway just to complete the collection.
