Question:
I am probably one of very few people who have never watched any of 24 and I want to get it on DVD. Is there a prefered region, if so which one and which would be the best supplier to the UK?

I believe it is rumoured that the R2 is being rereleased with the version that was shown on BBC2. This is supposed to be better as it has more footage than either R1 or the original R2.
Price - not a clue where is cheapest at the mo - try www.*********************
R1 is the cut version (as shown on US tv)
R2 UK is the uncut version (as shown on the BBC)
The R2 dvds were accidently released with discs 5 and 6 containing the cut versions. Fox will be replacing them (search the dvd times site for the address to send the discs to for replacement to if you already brought them).
If you have not brought them yet you will have to wait till Fox sends out the uncut versions to shops (should be soon)

Therefore the only way to get the full uncut version is to buy UK box set and then return the last two discs to Fox who will replaces them with the uncut version. This could be rubbish from BBC, I guess there could be a new edition of the 24 box set out before Christmas.

AFAIK Fox have quietly announced that new pressings of 24 will be the full "BBC" version..

Will there be any identifying markings on the packaging to indicate that the box contains the new last two discs?
I too havn't seen this and have been holding off buying the boxset until the "proper" version is on the shelves.
AFAIK the old box sets were withdrawn from shops, so the new ones should contain the new discs.
Got the re-issued set from DVD.co.uk this week and can confirm that it does contain the new disc's with the missing scenes intact.
To be honest I've only had time to check the episode that had the scene between Terri & Nina cut (you know the one I mean) but it's now in place, so it's pretty certain that all the episode's are now fixed.
So if I order the set from amazon.co.uk or blackstar.co.uk I should get the fixed set? I want the extra footage but refuse to order till I know I am going to get the extra footage. I watched every episode of this show as it was broadcast (here in the US) and to think that there is extra footage out there is... enough to make me drool. I will be very excited to see this set.
