Cast Away - one persons thoughts.
Question:

Having bought and watched Cast Away last night (great movie with Tom Hanks' best performance IMHO), I was doing a bit of searching on the internet movie database where I came across this review.
The words missing the point come to mind :D

'I found Cast Away enjoyable and thought provoking. But it bothered me that this intelligent and resourceful man missed a simple way to make a fire. He had a flashlight (a Maglite) which provided short lived protection from darkness with its symbolic security of civilization. Eventually, the batteries die and has to work very hard making a fire to feel civilized again. But, if he had removed the front of the flashlight, he could have used it as a lens to concentrate the sun's light and easily have made a flame. The glass cover to his pocket watch and the wrist watch could probably also have served. Since their curves are not as great as the flashlight, it would have taken a little longer.'
:dork:
Maybe he thinks he was watching The Open University or something.

If i was stuck on the island i would have tried to set fire to the whole thing. Surely that would have got him noticed.

Some people have too much time on their hands.
The one thing I was thinking while watching Cast Away was "when's the sequel?".

Whilst I was watching I remember thinking "Wow this is a long Fed Ex advert". Of course Wilson Baskeballs gets a good run for their money too.

R.I.P. Wilson :(
I actually bought one of those volleyballs with Wilson's face on it after the film was released. It just sits in my closet, but it made me feel better about the whole thing. :o
BTW I am not a fan of the film
