Question:
Oooooh...
http://www.apple.com/trailers/newline/the_two_towers/
I might just go and see that film
It looks awesome.
Did i hear the music from "Requiem for a Dream" in there?
There's now a link to a much beter version over at apple:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/newline/the_two_towers/
I KNEW I had heard the music near the end of the trailer somewhere before
But was it really Requiem for a dream?
Gary A
Definitely the score from Requiem For a Dream, not sure if that was the first film to use it though.
As this thread was first - can we close the other one?
i thought the Requiem soundtrack was original?
i've heard it a couple of other places (including a short film by me:norty: ) but all after the film was made
and it still rules :rocker:
I've got the soundtrack somewhere - picked it up at the original requiem preview. Must dig it out...
Yeah, I just saw it today before Red Dragon and the thing that MAKES that trailer and will make millions more for them is that music from Requiem for a Dream, though it is performed by a different, larger orchestra. It is so powerful and unique and elevates this trailer from another stupid CGI-fest to something grande and dramatic, great marketing decision.
Top 3 uses of great, fitting music in trailers out now are:
1: 8 Mile
2: Two Towers
3: Phone Booth
Requiem was scored by Clint Mansell (formerly of Pop Will Eat Itself) and the Kronos Quartet, so its possible that the main thematic piece was an orchestral piece that already existed, and was adapted and subsequently augmented with synths by Clint. That would mean that the non-synthy version could still be used without his permission. I don't know if it is a different version though, TTT trailer downloading as I type :)
