Abyss SE
Question:

First I did a search for this so if there is a thread please direct me if possible. My son bought "Abyss SE" the three DVD set I think. Anyways, I play this movie either the SE Version or the Theatrical Version and it starts out with the THX sound and sounds great, thereafter it switches to 2-channel Dolby (My Digial Dolby and Pro-Logic are Lit) with nothing coming out of the rear, I cannot switch and there is no Sound Setup. The Sub is on. I tried a few other movies (Behind Enemy Lines, Spy Games, Star Wars, etc) no problem. Is this a flaw in the movie?
Thanks!

You have to go into the Audio Section and select Dolby Digital, I think this film defaults to Dolby Surround.

The only thing I see is something about whether you want Subtitles or not. The other menu selections are "Scene Selection", Special Edition Version", "Theartical Version", and "Extra Features". What bothers me it starts out defaults to "THX" with that strange THX Music and then goes into Dolby Digital 2.0. On my receiver "Kenwood" It shows Dolpy Pro Logic and Dolby Digital Being lit. On my Panasonic DVD Player the online dropdown menues allows me to select the various Subtitles but on Audio it only shows Dolby 2.0. I tried a couple of other movies that I mentioned in my previous message and they work fine. This is a R1 DVD by the way, so I do not know if this a problem with that version. But if you know where they hid the audio selection I would be quite gratefull! Thanks!

You can find the audio options AFTER you've chosen Theatrical or Extended versions. On the menu screen you should see some speakers in the top left hand corner. Highlight them for the sound options. I was actually watching this movie when the earthquake hit the other night......

Thanks All!! I found it tucked away on the upper left of the screen. Must have been blind! Anyways, now works in 5.0. Thanks again all!
